If you're hungry for growth, aligned to our operating principles, and ready to get to work, you won't find a better place to learn and accelerate your career.

About the role

We're hiring a Product Manager to lead our Voice AI efforts. This is a high-ownership role where you'll define product direction, customer outcomes, and long-term strategy for how Podium answers, understands, and converts every phone call a local business gets using AI agents. You'll own our Voice AI roadmap, building deep expertise in how real-time conversations actually work, how our customers run their phones today, and the telephony, scheduling, and CRM systems that sit behind every booked job and every sold car.

The phone is still where local businesses make most of their money, and most of those calls go unanswered. You'll be responsible for building outcome-driven voice agents that do real work for local businesses. That means owning how our agents sound and behave in a live conversation, like turn-taking, interruptions, latency, tone, and recovery when something goes wrong, and making all of it measurable. You'll work across our entire product surface (Phones, Inbox, Payments, CRM, integrations) - to create a comprehensive voice AI agent platform for Auto, Home Services, and Aesthetics with industry leading customer retention. We see Voice AI as one of the most exciting spaces to innovate across the software industry, and you’ll be at the forefront of that development in this role.

While previous voice, telephony, or speech experience is helpful, it's not required. What matters is your ability to deeply understand customer problems, translate them into product solutions, and execute with speed. We expect you to be a thought leader in Voice AI and agents. You'll need to balance strategic thinking with hands-on detailed work, from user stories and specs to listening to real calls and iterating on features.

What you will be doing:

  • Stay close to customers - talk with owners, service managers, and front desk teams regularly, and listen to their real calls. Understand how their business works and what success looks like.
  • Help shape strategic direction for our Voice AI platform - decide where we go deeper, where we expand, and how Podium becomes the leading applied-AI solution for the phone.
  • Define the voice interaction model - decide how our agents handle turn-taking, interruptions, latency, tone, and error recovery, so that a call with an AI employee feels like a call with a good one.
  • Build voice agents that help the customer - design and ship outcome-driven agents that answer every call, book appointments, and automate high-value workflows using Podium's first-party phone system and third-party integrations
  • Own the voice stack experience - partner across speech-to-text, text-to-speech, LLMs, and telephony to deliver one coherent product rather than a pile of vendors
  • Make voice measurable - define how we grade a call: answer rate, containment, resolution, appointments booked, latency, and conversation quality. Then build the feedback loops that move those numbers.
  • Expand what our platform can do on the phone - identify and unlock new voice workflows that drive revenue for our customers
  • Work across the company - partner with engineering, design, partnerships, finance, legal, sales, onboarding, and customer success to deliver real product
  • Roll up your sleeves - be hands-on with detailed PM work, from writing specs to building prototypes and shipping code

What you should have:

  • Demonstrate high agency - consistently identifying opportunities and driving projects forward with minimal oversight or direction
  • Have 5-7 years of product management or related industry experience, with emphasis on building technical products
  • Have solid understanding of AI agent design, human-in-the-loop patterns, and enterprise integrations
  • Have the technical depth to work with engineers on real-time systems - streaming, latency budgets, and what happens when a call fails
  • Focus deeply on customer pain, turning real insights into crisp prototypes, compelling product stories, and demos that win customers

What we hope you have:

  • Hands-on coding experience
  • Background in ML, LLMs, or large-scale systems integration
  • Startup, founder, or entrepreneurial experience
  • Technical degree or equivalent real-world expertise
  • Experience in vertical SaaS or local business software (Auto, Healthcare, Home Services, etc.)
  • Experience leading business initiatives beyond just product development
  • Success leading partner integrations or channel-based expansion

Why you’ll love working here:

  • Podium is the best place to work to:
    • Join the leaders in AI agents
    • Unlock career-defining growth
    • Build with world-class talent
    • Make a real impact on local business

Benefits:

  • (If local to Utah) Work in this building in Lehi, UT 5 days a week
  • Open and transparent culture
  • Life insurance, long and short-term disability coverage
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave
  • Fertility Benefits
  • Generous vacation time, plus three 4-day summer holiday weekends
  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401k Plan
  • Bi-annual swag drops with cool Podium gear and apparel
  • A stellar HQ (Utah) gym with local professional coaches and classes offered
  • Onsite HQ (Utah) child care center, subsidized for employees

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
