This is a hybrid role based in our Bay area, LA, New York, or Chicago offices and will require you to be in office Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What’s so interesting about this role?

We are looking for exceptional builders to start and lead new businesses at Grindr (NYSE: GRND), the world’s largest LGBTQ+ social app with more than 14.5 monthly active users in nearly every country. Grindr is already a pillar in gay culture and a fundamental part of the LGBTQ+ community. Our mission is even greater: to build the global Gayborhood in your pocket™.

Expansion at Grindr means going beyond our core to create new blocks of the Gayborhood, offering products and services our audience already wants — starting with Health and Travel. As a founder and product leader, you will drive the creation of entirely new products and businesses, leveraging Grindr’s unique engagement, data, and brand to serve our community in new ways. This role has clear headroom to grow into GM of your space, or to lead other major bets for Grindr.

This is a senior individual contributor role. You’ll partner across Business, Engineering, Design, Data, Research, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Privacy. You’ll bridge strategy and execution, driving high-impact, cross-functional work while remaining hands-on in shaping product direction and delivering meaningful results for millions of users worldwide.

What’s the job?

Define a bold vision and product thesis for new Grindr expansion businesses.

  • Build and lead a small, multidisciplinary team through ideation, prototyping, validation, launch, and scaling.

  • Partner closely with engineering, design, data science, and research to plan, develop, and launch consumer products with elegant, user-centric experiences.

  • Use experiment-driven analysis, success metrics, and both qualitative and quantitative research to shape strategy and evaluate outcomes.

  • Listen to customers, non-customers, and stakeholders, then integrate insights into roadmap and direction.

  • Lead development, launch, commercialization, partnerships, and positioning of new products.

  • Align with Grindr’s mission, community needs, and business goals while operating with autonomy and speed.

  • Lead through ambiguity: identify growth levers, evaluate operational requirements, and balance short-term experimentation with long-term vision.

  • Communicate effectively across the company, from executives to cross-functional peers, building alignment and momentum.

What we’ll love about you

  • 7+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Founder, GM, or Operations Leader building and shipping consumer-facing products at scale (millions of users).

  • Proven ability to take an idea from zero to one: concept through validation, launch, and iteration.

  • Strong product sense: able to make product decisions to meet user needs, drive business outcomes, and manage tradeoffs.

  • Track record of driving impact in ambiguous environments, making decisions with partial information, and balancing strategy with execution.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to influence executives and inspire teams.

  • Experience working closely with design, engineering, research, data, marketing, and business stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical skills, with experience leveraging both data and user research to make product decisions.

  • Demonstrated ownership of successful products across their lifecycle.

  • Ability to structure, clarify, and break down complex problems into actionable steps.

We’ll really swoon if you have

  • Founder experience: started, led, or scaled a startup, internal product, or nonprofit initiative.

  • Background in management consulting, product strategy, product marketing, or operations.

  • Experience leading growth initiatives (acquisition, conversion, retention).

  • Experience in healthtech, travel, or other consumer categories with high LGBTQ+ demand.

  • Strong design intuition and ability to partner deeply with design and research teams.

  • Experience working on global products across markets, cultures, and languages.

What you'll love about us

  • Mission and Impact: Grindr is building the global gayborhood in your pocket. Your role will impact the lives of millions of LGBTQ+ people around the world. Through our success, we are making a world where the lives of our community are free, equal, and just.

  • Family Insurance: Insurance premium coverage for health, dental, and vision for you and partial coverage for your dependents.

  • Retirement Savings: Generous 401K plan with 6% match and immediate vest in the U.S.

  • Compensation: Industry-competitive compensation and eligibility for company bonus and equity programs.

  • Queer-Inclusive Benefits: Industry-leading gender-affirming offerings with up to 90% cost coverage, access to Included Health, monthly stipends for HRT, and more.

  • Additional Benefits: Flexible vacation policy, monthly stipends for cell phone, internet, wellness, food, and commuting, breakfast/lunch provided onsite, and yearly travel & leisure stipend.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
