Build and own polished full-stack product features across a Next.js frontend and Django/PostgreSQL backend. The role requires strong product judgment, UX/UI attention, autonomy, and experience shipping web products used by real customers.

This role is part of a fast-growing AI company that is set to join saas.group, as one of our upcoming brands.

This role is attached to a future acquisition by saas.group. As the deal has not been officially announced yet, we can’t share the company name in this job post. We’ll tell you more about the company and product during the process.

We are an AI platform that turns images and text into ready-to-use 3D models in minutes, work that traditionally takes a 3D artist days or weeks. Game developers, 3D printing enthusiasts and creators use the platform to generate and edit images, turn them into 3D models in every major format, and chain it all together into their own pipelines. With more than 2 million registered users, we are now expanding into the business space, building custom AI workflows for companies such as 3D printing businesses.

Profile Overview

We’re looking for a Product Engineer who loves building products people enjoy using. You’ll work directly with our founder and take real ownership of the product: deciding what to build, shaping how it looks and feels, and shipping it end to end across frontend and backend.

This is not a role where you wait for tickets. You’ll have the freedom to drive the product yourself, used by a large and growing global user base, and a front-row seat as we move from hobbyists and indie game developers into business customers. If you have the craft and the taste, we’ll help you learn the 3D side.

Your immediate impact in the first 3-6 months will be:

  • Ship new product features end to end, from the Next.js frontend to the Django backend.
  • Keep the high UX and UI quality of the product as you ship new features, so everything new feels as polished as what's already there.
  • Get up to speed on how 3D models, formats and pipelines work in our product.
  • Take ownership of parts of the product and proactively propose what to build next.

Your responsibilities

  • Own product features from idea to release, without needing a detailed spec for every task.
  • Build refined, well-designed interfaces in Next.js (roughly 60% of the role).
  • Implement and maintain backend features in Django and PostgreSQL (roughly 40% of the role), integrating third-party AI model APIs.
  • Look after our servers and keep the platform reliable as we handle a lot of user data.
  • Use AI coding tools daily to move fast without compromising quality.

What you bring to the table

  • Full-stack experience: 5+ years building web products across frontend and backend.
  • Tech stack: Strong experience with Next.js on the frontend and Django + PostgreSQL on the backend.
  • Server management: Hands-on experience managing servers and working with Linux.
  • Product taste: You know what a good product looks like, with an eye for clean UX/UI and the details (animations, shadows, polish) that make it feel great.
  • Ownership: You’ve shipped a product with real users, ideally in a startup, as a founder or through your own side projects, and you’re used to driving things yourself.
  • AI Literacy & Application: You actively use AI tools to enhance personal productivity and work quality, staying curious about emerging capabilities and identifying opportunities to apply AI pragmatically in day-to-day work.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with 3D models or the 3D space (meshes, formats, Blender, ideally Blender headless or similar pipeline work).
  • Experience scaling a product.
  • Experience with serverless GPU platforms such as Modal.
  • Experience with Neon database, Celery or third-party AI model APIs.

No 3D experience yet? That’s fine: strong engineering and product skills come first, and we’ll help you get up to speed on the 3D side.

What’s in it for you

  • Ultimate flexibility: We’re 100% remote. You can work from wherever you like, whenever you like.
  • Freedom and autonomy: We’re a high-trust team, and you’ll be given lots of flexibility to solve problems in your own way, with plenty of help from the team when you need it.
  • Minimum bureaucracy: We don’t like to get bogged down with meetings and red tape. We like to be efficient and keep momentum steady & sustainable.
  • Small & friendly team: We help each other out, have fun, and joke around.
  • Our network: We are a community of entrepreneurial SaaS professionals that regularly exchange ideas, knowledge, learning and expertise with each other internally.

Our future brand will be part of saas.group, and we have a shared goal of succeeding together.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
