Job Description:

We are seeking a Product Designer to join Tria's Human Experience practice in support of design and research efforts for a digital product team delivering solutions for Federal government value-based care programs. This role contributes to integrating design into the software development lifecycle, helping ensure user needs are well understood and reflected in product decisions.

Operating within a SAFe Agile framework, the Product Designer will collaborate with design leadership, product management, engineering, and business stakeholders to support discovery and design activities that strengthen roadmap decisions and delivery outcomes. This role is ideal for a designer who is comfortable navigating ambiguity, can scope and plan research with support, and is ready to independently execute research and design activities while growing their ability to own projects from end-to-end and contribute to broader strategic conversations.

Basic Requirements:

  • Ability to successfully obtain a U.S. Federal Position of Trust clearance designation.
  • Must reside in and be able to perform work in the United States.
  • Must have lived in the United States for 3 of the last 5 years.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in UX design, product design, human-centered design, or related roles supporting digital products; previous experience working in Federal government, healthcare, CMS, or regulated environments is strongly preferred.

 Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting user research activities (e.g., interviews, usability testing, synthesis) independently when scope and goals are defined.
  • Ability to synthesize research findings into clear insights and recommendations with guidance and collaboration from senior team members.
  • Strong foundation in interaction design (IxD), UX, and visual design principles.
  • Experience translating user needs and requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and design artifacts.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present concepts and rationale to team members and stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with product managers and developers in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe).
  • Ability to execute well-defined tasks independently and contribute to more complex problem-solving with support.
  • A proactive approach to design that leverages low-fidelity sketches and wireframes to socialize ideas, clarify needs, and facilitate team alignment.
  • Strong design system skills and experience with Figma strongly preferred.
  • A portfolio or work samples demonstrating experience in user research, interaction design, and digital product delivery.

 Responsibilities:

  • Conduct user research activities such as interviews, usability testing, and analysis within defined problem spaces.
  • Synthesize research findings into insights and product design decisions.
  • Create wireframes, interaction flows, mockups, and prototypes that translate user and business requirements into usable solutions.
  • Partner with product and engineering to clarify requirements and ensure shared understanding of user needs.
  • Contribute to backlog refinement and planning conversations by providing user-centered perspective and design recommendations.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure design intent is accurately implemented.
  • Participate in SAFe Agile ceremonies and workflows to align design efforts with release cycles.
  • Support continuous discovery efforts by running research sessions and surfacing opportunities for improvement.
  • Present concepts and findings to internal teams and stakeholders to build alignment and clarity.
  • Seek feedback and iterate on designs to improve quality and impact.
  • Contribute to maintaining design systems and reusable components when applicable.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
