About Wizard

Wizard is the top-performing AI Shopping Agent, delivering the best products from across the web with unmatched accuracy, quality, and trust.

About the Role

Wizard’s design team is small, senior, and deeply involved in shaping our AI-powered shopping experience. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where you’ll help define how an agentic shopping product should look, feel, and behave across conversation, multimodal interfaces, and traditional app surfaces.

You’ll design end-to-end experiences across chat, desktop, and mobile web (with native mobile apps in the future), while also taking primary ownership of Wizard’s design system. We’re looking for a designer who is exceptional at visual design, interaction design, and design system craft; someone who wants to be the central owner of scalable design foundations as the company grows.

This role will partner closely with product, engineering, and leadership to define Wizard’s design language, interaction patterns, and overall product experience.

What You’ll Do
  • Design high-quality user experiences for conversations, browsing, product discovery, and purchase flows.
  • Own the end-to-end product design across desktop and mobile web, with future native mobile considerations.
  • Define and evolve interaction patterns for agent behaviors, multimodal flows, and responsive UI.
  • Drive the visual and interaction language of the product, including motion and animation principles.
  • Lead discovery work: shaping user journeys, flows, and high-level information architecture.
  • Produce high-fidelity visual designs, interaction specs, and prototypes.
  • Build prototypes ranging from low-fidelity explorations to polished interaction models.
  • Partner closely with product and engineering to scope features, validate solutions, and iterate quickly.
  • Collaborate with Product Experience on user testing, feedback sessions, and internal demos to refine UX.
  • Perform competitive research and stay current on best practices in AI-powered and agentic interfaces.
  • Set design quality standards as Wizard grows and potentially mentor future designers.
What Success Looks Like
  • You own the design for meaningful, end-to-end features and flows of the product experience.
  • You understand Wizard’s business and customer goals and have strong hypotheses on how product design can contribute to achieving those goals.
  • You independently concept and design key features and elements of the Wizard experience presenting to stakeholders and iterating based on feedback and testing results.
  • You raise the product design bar through research, testing, thoughtful design, and thorough documentation and design systems management.
  • You are seen as a collaborative partner who has built trust with product and engineering stakeholders, and knows how to balance speed of delivery with thoroughness of execution.
Who You Are
  • 5–8+ years of experience in product design for consumer-facing or AI-enabled products.
  • A senior or staff-level product designer with strong depth in responsive web and mobile experiences.
  • Outstanding visual design and interaction design skills, with strong attention to craft and detail.
  • Proven experience working with complex systems, task flows, or multimodal interfaces.
  • Comfortable switching between systems-level strategy and hands-on execution.
  • Strong design communication skills, able to articulate thinking through visuals, prototypes, and narrative.
  • Experienced in collaborating closely with engineering in fast iteration cycles.
  • Deep understanding of accessibility, usability, and interaction best practices across platforms.
  • A portfolio or recent work examples that demonstrate systems thinking, exploration, and polished, production-ready work.
  • Comfortable presenting design work to founders, executives, and senior stakeholders.
  • Thrives in ambiguous, 0→1 environments and wants real ownership, not just contribution.
Nice to Have
  • Experience designing for retail, ecommerce, shopping, or payments.
  • Interest in or experience with AI-driven design, agentic UX, or conversational interfaces.
  • Familiarity with design tools and workflows that leverage AI to accelerate exploration or iteration.
Compensation & Benefits

The expected base salary range for this role is $180,000 – $225,000 USD, and will vary based on skills, experience, role level, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined by considering these factors alongside overall role scope and responsibilities.

In addition to base salary, Wizard offers:

  • Equity in the form of stock options
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) plan
  • Flexible PTO and company holidays
  • Fully remote work within the United States
  • Periodic company-wide offsites and team gatherings

Wizard is committed to fair, transparent, and competitive compensation practices.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
