About the role

As a Product Designer at Clara, you’ll work closely with cross-functional partners, executing design strategies that align with business goals and supporting product launches. You’ll complement your design process with AI, with the judgment to decide what to apply, when to go deep, and when to move fast and ship.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners as part of our always-on discovery pipeline to shape product requirements.
  • Conduct user research and testing, using AI for desk research and synthesis while owning the rigor of the insights.
  • Turn ambiguous problems into flows and interfaces that work for users and the business alike.
  • Use AI tools to go from idea to a functional, testable prototype in days, not weeks.
  • Ensure quality and consistency across all deliverables, including AI-assisted work, and help grow our agentic design system.
  • Own the UX performance of the products you design, and drive the improvements that follow.
Who you are
  • Experience as a Product, UX, or Interaction Designer, having owned design work end to end, from discovery to shipped product, with a portfolio that shows it.
  • Daily, hands-on use of AI in your design workflow (Claude, Figma AI, v0, or similar), driven by real curiosity to keep pushing what it can do.
  • Experience in user research and usability testing, from planning and running studies to synthesizing insights that shape design decisions.
  • A bias for shipping, with fast iterations, early testing, and refining out in the open.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for beautiful, functional, and engaging design.
  • Proficiency in Figma or similar design and prototyping tools.
  • Clear, confident communication, comfortable presenting and defending your design decisions.
  • Good English level.
Nice to have
  • Frontend knowledge that helps you communicate more easily with engineering.
  • Comfortable with Git and the command line.
  • Experience with structured, agent-ready guidelines, docs built for both humans and AI to use.
  • A history of building your own skills, apps, or tools to make part of a process more efficient.

Clara’s Hybrid Policy

Claridians in a hybrid mode split their time between working from the office, talking to or visiting customers, or working from home. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for each individual and team.

We don't enforce a minimum number of days for most roles, but you're expected to spend time at the office organically, and be at the office most days during your ramp-up or when required by your leader.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
