Lead the design team and drive UX/UI design for mobile and web products, while developing a comprehensive design system and improving processes.
The summary above was generated by AI

Canvas is at the forefront of revolutionizing the remodeling, architecture and interior design industry through cutting-edge AI and computer vision technology. With our LiDAR-enabled iPhone or iPad scans, we capture precise 3D representations of homes in minutes, providing interactive models with accurate-to-the-inch measurements. Our proprietary process then turns these scans into highly detailed, editable, as-built files in industry-standard formats. Our technology was featured in Apple's keynote when the iPhone's LiDAR sensor was introduced and now we model millions of square feet each month.

We’re an early-stage startup that is growing and ready to accelerate even further. As a global virtual-first company, our team members are distributed worldwide, with a concentration in the US and Europe.

This is a fully remote position, but we are most interested in hiring someone in the Eastern or Central US timezones to ease collaboration with our engineering team(s) in Europe.

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer/Design Lead, reporting to our Chief Product Offer, to join Canvas to increase our design team capacity and level up our design processes. It’s a “player-coach” role, which starts with an IC hands-on role and will evolve into a team leader of a small design team.

What you'll do:

  • Leading the design efforts as an equal partner to product and engineering.
  • Hands-on product UX/UI design for mobile and web app(s).
  • Building a comprehensive design system for all our customer-facing and internal products.
  • Engaging with customers and internal users to deeply understand their needs and market opportunities.
  • Driving UX research and user testing.
  • Building and managing the design team.
  • Coordinating and overviewing the work of other designers.
  • Improving design-related processes.

You should have:

  • 5+ years of experience in a design role, 2+ years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Amazing portfolio and craft demonstrating top-level aesthetics and attention to detail.
  • Vast experience in UX/UI product design for compelling mobile apps and web experiences that delight and engage the customer.
  • Hands-on research skills or experience in organizing research processes with the help of others.
  • Excellent communication skills with different sets of audiences: customers and users, PMs and engineers, go-to-market and operations teams.
  • Great graphic design and illustration skills or experience in efficiently outsourcing such tasks.

Nice to have:

  • Experience and desire to lead and participate hands-on in marketing design, while product design would still remain the primary focus.
  • Having experience related to 3D scanning, CAD/BIM, home improvement, construction, or interior design.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
