Lead end-to-end product design for agentic AI platform features, driving 0→1 development through user research, rapid prototyping, visual design, and front-end polish. Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams, define product requirements, and own experiments and scaled design systems in a fast-moving, remote US startup environment.

Who We Are:

We deploy powerful AI agents in complex, regulated industries, specializing in building the systems that enable autonomous agents to operate entire functions securely and reliably. Our belief is that people should be free of administrative and operational drudgery so they can create value through creativity, reasoning, and judgement.

We’re starting in higher education, a sector with ~$700B in expenses defined by heavy workflows across departments, such as admissions, financial aid, facilities, advising, student services, advancement, and more. Our agents are already embedded across these departments, interacting with millions of students and staff. They process applications, package aid, resolve verification issues, run large-scale communication workflows, handle student support tickets, and more.

We believe that universities are among the most consequential institutions in the world, sitting at the foundation of social and economic progress. Improving how they operate improves who gets educated, who gets supported, and who gets a chance. When higher education runs better, everything built on top of it does too.

About The Role:

As a Product Design Engineer at CollegeVine, you’ll partner directly with the senior leadership to lead 0→1 design across our platform. Working on a lean team, you’ll take ideas from ambiguous problem spaces to shipped product — shaping user experience, interaction models, and scalable design systems along the way. This is a highly autonomous role with true end-to-end ownership.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments, enjoys operating close to strategy, and wants to work on the leading edge of agentic ai products. You’ll play a central role in defining what we build and how we build it, helping establish the foundation for the next phase of our product.

While this position is fully remote in the United States, there is a strong preference for candidates based in Eastern Time zone.

Responsibilities:
  • End-to-end product design — from user research and prototyping to visual design and front end fit-and-finish.

  • Rapid prototyping and experimentation mindset.

  • Strong written communication and documentation; able to define product requirements and carry partial PM responsibilities when needed.

  • Comfortable working independently with ambiguous problems, scoping work, and driving product definition.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience

    • 5+ years in product design or design engineering, ideally in AI-driven or complex B2B platform environments (e.g., FinTech, enterprise SaaS, etc)

    • Experience in fast-paced in-house startup environments; some agency/freelance work a plus if paired with strong internal product ownership.

  • AI & Product Development

    • Hands-on experience building with AI technologies or heavily leveraging AI tools in design and prototyping workflows.

    • Proven record of 0→1 product development, working cross-functionally from concept to launch.

  • Collaboration & Communication

    • Exposure to senior leadership and high-level strategy discussions; able to translate business goals into scalable design systems.

CollegeVine partners with 200+ universities, deploying agentic AI to power campus operations. We have raised venture funding from dedicated investors such as Menlo Ventures (Anthropic, Carta), Silversmith Capital Partners (Webflow, Formstack), Morningside Technology Ventures (Xiaomi, TikTok), and more. In 2020, after years of being a remote-friendly company, CollegeVine became a fully remote company (with a NYC office) with a diverse cast of team members based predominantly in the United States, but also around the world.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
