About Zello

Zello is a voice-first communication platform, powered by our industry-leading push-to-talk technology, to improve collaboration and productivity for desk-less workers. With over 175+ million users, we’re the #1 rated push-to-talk app in the world, delivering 9 billion (yes, with a B) messages a month.

At Zello, our company values are at the heart of what we do everyday. We’re proud to serve the frontline, we’re privileged to connect people in times of crisis across the globe, and we’re honored to support first responders.

And this is where you come in.

We're hiring a Product Data Analyst to help us figure out where the product goes next. Zello is push-to-talk for frontline workers - millions of people use it to do their jobs every day - and we want someone who can turn what we see in the data into clear calls about what to build. You'd join the Data & AI team here in Austin.

This one's hands-on and heavily AI-leveraged. You'll dig into the data, form hypotheses, spec the telemetry for our web and mobile apps, run the experiments, and call what ships and what doesn't. You'll lean on AI agents to handle the routine work so your time goes to the thinking that actually moves things.

After a successful first year, you will have
  • Run 10+ well-powered product experiments end to end, from hypothesis and telemetry spec through analysis to a clear ship-or-kill call, with real impact on activation or conversion.

  • Defined the events and metrics for a couple of product areas so PMs can pull their own numbers instead of waiting on you.

  • Shaped the roadmap with your analysis - at least three features that shipped or got killed because of what you found.

  • Built an AI-leveraged workflow where agents handle the routine pulls, first-pass analysis, and write-ups, so one analyst covers a lot more ground.

  • Become the person your pod pulls in early, not at the end.

What you'll do
  • Work with PMs, designers, and engineers to define product metrics, events, and what success looks like.

  • Design and run A/B tests - scope the hypothesis, make sure it's powered, analyze it honestly, and recommend a call.

  • Build funnel, retention, and cohort analysis on our mobile and web data with SQL and Python on Snowflake.

  • Build and run AI-agent workflows that take the grunt work off your plate, and check what they hand back.

  • Keep the core product dashboards in Omni current so the team isn't waiting on you for the basics.

  • Turn the analysis into a clear story and a recommendation people can act on.

Who you are
  • You've owned A/B tests end to end and can point to decisions that changed because of your work, not just dashboards you built.

  • You write advanced SQL on your own against a cloud warehouse, and you reach for Python when it helps.

  • You've already reworked how you work around AI - handing routine analysis to agents and checking their output - and you want to push that further.

  • You pick the right method for the data in front of you instead of running the same test every time.

  • You don't wait for perfect data. You build the analysis, pressure-test it, and bring a recommendation.

  • You make work easier for the people around you. PMs and designers find you straightforward to work with.

This role is not
  • A dashboard or BI-reporting job - dashboards support the work, they're not the work.

  • A data engineering or pipeline role - the team's got that covered.

  • A management role - this is a senior IC.

  • For someone who needs every query and metric handed to them.

We hire for potential, passion for our mission, and a knack for solving difficult problems over checking every qualification box. We have competitive pay, equity with significant upside, and intentionally design our benefits to encourage healthy and well-balanced employees, flexible schedules and time off. We even offer a sabbatical after every five years of service so you’re able to pursue and enjoy what matters most to you. And of course, we wouldn’t be a technology company without a ping-pong table and free snacks in our break room. Join us!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
