The Product Analyst II is responsible for product innovation, including building new creative products and updating existing products to enable differentiation, drive profitability, and seize market opportunities with limited direction. Oversee the research and development of key trends, regulatory changes, and market needs of products. Assists in developing and implementing multi-year strategic plan that positions the product line(s) for profitable growth. Supports UFG objectives through ongoing analysis and monitoring results to ensure alignment to the objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate annually, or as needed, coverages for product improvement, competitive advantages, or as necessitated by court cases, legislative actions or State Insurance Departments to ensure UFG remains competitive and profitable.
  • Collaborate with Product Supervisor and other departments within UFG to develop evolving roadmaps outlining strategic product goals.
  • Maintain current systems and coverages and assist in developing new products.
  •  Review and analyze competitor market intelligence and bureau programs, ISO, AAIS and/or NCCI circulars.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with peers, internal and external partners to support completion of projects.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for other departments with coverage questions including but not limited to underwriting, training, claims, pricing, and compliance.
  • Draft new coverage forms and changes to existing coverage forms.
  • Contributes to a pro-active product review process with recommendations for product improvement.
  • Prepare filing documents and provide guidance to filing analysts.
  • Mentor and train new Product Analysts as needed on systems, procedures, processes, and department culture; as well as creating/updating training documentation.
  •  Provide clear and accurate communication on product decisions and recommendations.
  • Articulate requirements for system application related product changes.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher strongly preferred in business administration, finance, insurance, risk management or equivalent field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in a related field.
  • Industry designation(s) such as AINS, AU, or CPCU preferred, or actively pursuing recognized insurance designations.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of related property and casualty insurance work experience
  • Prior experience in product development, forms development and/or underwriting background strongly preferred

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Familiarity and comfort with ISO, AAIS, NCCI and other bureaus.
  • Familiarity and comfort with market and competitive research tools.
  • Ability to self-manage workload, stay organized, and create priorities to achieve goals set with supervisor.
  • Approaches targeted business problems with critical thinking, collaboration, and a solution focused mindset.
  • Clear understanding of departmental and enterprise processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external resources to meet customer's needs.
  • Motivated and curious, comfortable asking questions and performing research of issues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced agile environment that inspires a positive culture of constant learning and teamwork
  • Ability to be creative with solutions.
  • Self-confident with the ability to hear and understand others to come up with collaborative decisions.
  • Comfortable articulating desired product changes to supporting departments.
  • Familiar with software commonly used at UFG such as Microsoft Office products, SERFF, AM Best, ACL, Guidewire, Smart Communications, Tableau, JIRA, Confluence, and Miro.

Working Conditions:

  • General office conditions not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
  • This role requires constant computer and phone usage for up to 8 hours per day.

Pay Transparency Statement:

UFG Insurance is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position is $72,000 - $95,000 annually, which represents the typical range for new hires in this role. Individual pay within this range will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, internal equity, geography and market data. 

In addition to base salary, UFG Insurance offers a comprehensive total rewards package that includes:
