Fulltime Producer/Writer
KTLA is seeking an experienced Morning News producer/writer to work on our #1 rated newscasts. We are looking for someone who will be dynamic in producing compelling, informative, and engaging newscasts that our viewers have come to love and expect each morning for over three decades. The KTLA Morning News is about chemistry and connecting with our loyal audience.
Responsibilities:
- To produce, write and edit news content for broadcast and digital platforms. Select and prioritize stories that provide our viewers with a mix of breaking news, talkers, sports and stories relevant to Southern California.
- Coordinate with segment and entertainment producers for special segments, including pitching ideas and helping to execute.
- Work with associate producers to order creative graphics to enhance the broadcast.
- Work with the Director, TD and production team to fully utilize our amazing set (various standing positions, video and graphic placement, lighting, etc).
- Work closely with Executive Producers, Senior Producers, Segment Producers, Reporters and the Assignment Desk to generate content.
- Desktop editing skills required (Adobe Premiere)
- Participate in daily editorial meetings/calls and planning
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Three years of TV producing and newswriting experience preferred in a medium to large market.
- Candidates must demonstrate a passion for news. This includes keeping up on current events; updating stories with new information; and following social media daily
Knowledge of Adobe Premiere and ENPS (a plus)
- Strong organizational and communication skills needed
- Positive attitude; ability to work under pressure, take and give feedback and creativity are essential.
Compensation - $34/hr+ commensurate with skills and experience
