Rainmaker is pioneering a modern cloud seeding system to solve water scarcity and inclement weather problems. We develop and incorporate radar validation, weather-resistant UAS, numerical weather modeling, and sustainable cloud seeds into an effective precipitation enhancement solution.

The Engineering team at Rainmaker works on our UAS, dispersion payload, and in-situ/remote sensing systems. If you are interested in working in an extremely innovative and fast paced environment, where your work directly makes an impact and difference in our operational system, this is a fantastic opportunity.

In this role you will be leading all the procurement and sourcing across the company.

What You'll Do

  • Own end-to-end procurement for production parts (PCBAs, composites, machined components, sheet metal, and more) — from sourcing through delivery to the dock, with full accountability for getting parts here on time
  • Call suppliers directly and urgently when parts are at risk, keep following up until they ship, and coordinate with the logistics team to arrange expedited pickup or delivery when that's the fastest path
  • Source, qualify, and manage high-impact domestic supplier relationships, negotiating multi-year strategic agreements that secure cost, capacity, and lead-time performance
  • Manage procurement activity in NetSuite/Cofactr, partner cross-functionally with engineering and production, and proactively flag supply chain risks before they hit the line
  • Bring structure and urgency to procurement as we scale, juggling multiple commodities and programs at once without dropping the ball

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, business, or other related field (Master’s is a plus)
  • 2+  years of experience in supply chain/procurement in a similar industry
  • Experience sourcing production parts from the domestic supply chain in commodities like PCBAs, composites, machined components, sheet metal, etc.
  • Experience managing high-impact supplier relationships in the domestic supply chain
  • Ability to relocate, if not already local, to be onsite in El Segundo, CA
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with Netsuite ERP
  • Effective time management and multitasking skills; addressing all tasks with a sense of urgency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience negotiating muti-year strategic supplier agreements
  • 2+ years of experience working in a small/growing team in a fast-paced, start-up environment

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
