Who we areAbout Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Private Equity Partnerships (PEP) team is responsible for Stripe’s relationships with growth equity and private equity firms. We are looking for someone to lead a team of high-performing Private Equity Partnerships Managers. You will play a critical role in building and managing relationships with top growth and private equity investors, with the goal of becoming trusted strategic partners that help drive revenue and profit growth for their portfolio companies.

What you’ll do

In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to expand Stripe product use within PE-backed companies to drive portfolio company growth & profitability. Your responsibilities will include identifying appropriate firms to target, maintaining executive relationships with PE firms and their portfolio companies to establish new business in those accounts, and working closely with the Stripe sales team to drive the day-to-day interactions with the portfolio companies in order to build long-term business opportunities. You’ll also work closely with product management and marketing teams on strategic initiatives focused on private equity and their portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a team of high-performing PE Partnerships Managers with diverse backgrounds in sales and private equity
  • Develop the long-term vision and strategy for the team and manage day-to-day operations, with accountability for delivering against key metrics
  • Develop and maintain partner-level relationships with top private equity firms that have financial infrastructure needs, and drive consistent engagement with their portfolio companies through consultative strategic planning and collaboration
  • Engage with Americas and Global GTM leadership to communicate team strategy and results
  • Work cross-functionally and efficiently navigate the organization to establish, monitor and publish performance metrics and industry insights.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, communications, business operations, people operations, finance, and product management to drive success of the program
  • Represent Stripe in the financial sponsor ecosystem and take up speaking opportunities in industry events and platforms
  • Advise private equity firms on prospective investment opportunities and payments monetization across portfolios
  • Educate financial sponsors on Stripe’s product suite, product roadmap, and vision for the future of financial technology and money movement.

Who you are

You are a strategic thinker and communicator. You have a knack for building from the ground up and are comfortable with ambiguity. You are a self starter and set high standards for yourself and those around you. You’re highly collaborative and work well in team settings, but are also comfortable working independently to identify opportunities and to communicate, support and defend your position. We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 12+ years of business development, sales, private equity, investment banking or management consulting experience with 3+ years of people management experience
  • 7+ years of experience working with senior C-level executives
  • 5+ years of experience using analytics or metrics to drive commercial outcomes for both the business and its customers or partners

Preferred requirements

  • Experience at a technology or payments company
  • Proven track record of establishing and successfully implementing a strategic plan for a growing team
  • Exceptional relationship building ability with strong attention to detail to help the team cultivate partnerships and oversee key programs at scale
  • Ability to manage cross-functional projects and multitask with excellent organizational skills
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of investment terminology and relevant industry performance metrics
  • Financial modeling experience
  • Strong internal and external communication abilities, and interpersonal skills
  • Comfort with a fast-paced environment and changing requirements

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
