Technical Product Managers combine deep technical knowledge and experience with product leadership capabilities to enable Riot Games to deliver key products and supporting systems to players. You will develop and execute product strategies on Riot's products and technologies while leading diverse teams to deliver creative solutions to our most difficult technical challenges.

As the Principal Technical Product Manager for ML Bots, you will set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the technical capabilities that make these agents possible. You will partner closely with engineers, data scientists, designers, and game teams to ensure our modeling, simulation, and serving platforms meet the needs of multiple games, products, and regions worldwide. You will be accountable for delivering player-impacting features and robust internal systems that accelerate AI adoption and performance in live environments, with a particular focus on translational research and building effective research-to-production pipelines

Responsibilities:
  • Define and own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for ML Bot technology, ensuring it delivers compelling player experiences and reusable capabilities across games and products.
  • Partner with technical leads to establish requirements for modeling, simulation, evaluation, and serving systems that support Game Understanding Agents in production.
  • Prioritize initiatives based on player value, developer impact, and feasibility, balancing short-term delivery with long-term scalability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, applied ML, and research teams to translate research into production-ready systems, ensuring smooth handoff from experimental to deployed solutions.
  • Design and validate features, workflows, and tools for multi-region deployment, including China.
  • Drive decision-making on technical tradeoffs, performance targets, and infrastructure investments to ensure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships with partner game teams to integrate ML Bots into live products and iterate based on real-world performance and player feedback.
Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of product management or technical product management experience, with at least 4 years in applied machine learning, game AI, or related technical domains.
  • Demonstrated success leading technical products from concept to production in partnership with engineering, data science, and research teams.
  • Strong understanding of ML system lifecycles, including data, modeling, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and research-to-production pipelines.
  • Proven track record of setting the vision for and successfully delivering on multiple research-to-production pipelines.
  • Experience defining technical requirements and roadmaps for systems used across multiple products and regions.
  • Proven ability to navigate technical tradeoffs and align diverse stakeholders around high-impact priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences and building consensus across disciplines.

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
