Who are we, you ask?

Interviewing at top-tier tech companies like Google, Meta, Amazon, and Netflix is a high-stakes, high-pressure experience. Even brilliant engineers often fall short due to lack of preparation — not technical skill. That’s where Interview Kickstart comes in. We specialize in guiding software engineers through high-impact career transitions and interview preparation journeys in domains like AI, ML, Data Science, Backend, and Systems.

With a powerful combination of industry-backed curriculum, real hiring manager expertise, and an unmatched community of mentors, we’ve helped 17,000+ engineers land their dream roles and unlock career acceleration.

We’re now investing in strategic, cohort-wide sessions that elevate perspective, drive motivation, and connect learners with senior leaders from the industry. That’s where you come in.

What’s the opportunity?

We’re assembling a select advisory group of Director+ level leaders to lead Strategic Sessions across our programs. These sessions are cohort-wide experiences that aim to shift mindsets, deliver inspiration, and provide an authentic lens into leadership, AI, and career growth.

Unlike technical instruction, these sessions are not about teaching concepts — they’re about delivering clarity, motivation, and executive perspective to help learners prepare for the road ahead.

You’ll serve as a speaker or thought partner on a rotating basis — a few times a year — and engage with our most advanced cohorts across Backend, Frontend, and Machine Learning career tracks.

What you'll do:
  • Facilitate strategic sessions for mid-to-senior-level engineering cohorts
  • Lead sessions:
    • Orientation
    • Career progression and leadership inflection points
    • Motivation during high-pressure learning periods
    • What’s new in AI and the broader tech ecosystem
    • Ask-Me-Anything (AMA) sessions rooted in real-world experience
  • Serve as a thought leader and mentor — providing context, not curriculum
  • Conduct 1on 1 leadership mock interviews with our engineering management students
Requirements:
    • Director level or above only — must currently or previously hold senior roles in Engineering, ML, Product, or related functions
    • Deep experience in Backend, Frontend, AI and/or ML domains
    • 15+ years of experience in the tech industry
    • Comfortable speaking to highly technical, experienced engineering professionals
    • Passion for mentorship, executive storytelling, and enabling others to grow
    • Strong communication skills and executive presence
    • Available for virtual sessions, typically weekday evenings (Pacific Time)
      Session Examples:
    • “How AI is Reshaping the Engineering Career Ladder”
    • “From Senior IC to Tech Leader: Navigating the Transition”
    • “Reframing Failure and Finding Your Edge”
    • “Leadership Without the Title: Building Influence from Any Seat”
    • “The State of Tech: Trends, Tools, and Transformations to Watch”
What’s in it for you?
  • Minimal prep required — just show up, share your insights, and guide the conversation
  • Access to an exclusive network of peer leaders across tech
  • Meaningful impact on the next generation of high-caliber engineers
  • Flexibility — participate in just a few sessions or more if interested
Why this matters:

Our learners don’t just need content. They need clarity, confidence, and connection to what’s real — and what’s next. Your voice will be a catalyst for mindset shifts and motivation that ripple across careers and companies.

If you’re ready to give back, share your story, and help engineers rise to their next level, we’d love to speak with you.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
