Department OverviewMotorola Solutions is a global leader in professional mobile communication systems, with a rich history of technological innovation and a vast network of installed systems worldwide. This particular opening is within Motorola Solutions' Systems Engineering group, with a focus on the Tennessee market.
The group's primary work involves the design and implementation of mission-critical digital mobile communication systems for government and public safety clients. Many of these systems adhere to the APCO 25 communication standard. With the increasing demand for data services, many of our customers' mobile wireless networks are being enhanced with LTE infrastructure to support applications such as live mobile video transmission, complementing our existing core voice and narrowband data networks.

Job Description
NOTE: This candidate must reside in Tennessee
Our System Engineers design radio communication solutions from the conceptual phases through implementation, ensuring they meet customer requirements. They consult with customers to determine their needs and design the most suitable solutions. In collaboration with sales, product development, and project management, they develop technical strategies and generate proposals that present Motorola's solutions. They coordinate the design and planning of customer solutions using advanced technologies and provide technical support throughout the pre-sales phase of the project. This involves coverage and antenna site selection, frequency planning, interference analysis, system architecture design, equipment selection, proposal generation, and presentations of proposed solutions to customers.
System Engineers are then engaged in implementing these solutions as initially conceived, taking responsibility for all technical aspects of the assigned project from award until system acceptance. This includes implementation planning, system acceptance testing, coverage testing, and system staging. Travel is required for customer meetings, system staging, system implementation, and training.
Our engineers also ensure that our sales professionals and customers are kept up-to-date on the latest technology offerings from Motorola Solutions and their relevance to customer needs. Our Senior Engineers support their colleagues to enhance both individual and group competencies, including mentoring junior system engineers. We expect our engineers to operate as professionals and take responsibility for their development, including the professional and technical skills needed for their success as engineers.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences
- Excellent English (both oral and written) is essential for this role.
- Self-motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment
- Experience working with customers is desirable
- Experience/ Knowledge in radio systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave, and/or networking is desirable.
- Experience/ Knowledge of communications networks (MPLS, Ethernet, TCP/IP) is desirable
- Certifications through CCNA, CompTIA, and/ or Amateur Radio/ HAM are desirable

- BS Degree in Wireless, Computer, Networking, or Electrical Engineering or similar field
- 5+ years of experience
