We take both a bird’s eye view and dive into the weeds to solve problems as a team to drive customer success and revenue.

As the Principal Strategist, Public Sector Technology, you will be the senior technical and strategic voice for Wiz in the Public Sector market. You will blend deep technical expertise in cybersecurity with a sharp understanding of government missions and procurement to drive customer success, thought leadership, and revenue growth. You will partner directly with the Public Sector Sales leadership as a force multiplier, engaging as a trusted advisor to the most senior executives at our government clients and strategic partners. This position reports to the Head of Corporate & Public Sector Strategy, in the Office of the Chief Strategy Officer.
This is a hands-on, highly influential role. You will be asked to quickly synthesize complex customer challenges, market trends, and our own technology to shape our strategic direction. More importantly, the role requires a personality that promotes collaboration and unity across Sales, Product, and Marketing.

  • What You'll Do:
    • Partner with Public Sector Sales leadership to develop and execute account strategies, help qualify opportunities, and drive revenue by acting as the technical and strategic executive sponsor in key deals.
    • Serve as Wiz’s chief technology evangelist in the Public Sector by creating and delivering compelling content (whitepapers, blogs, presentations) and speaking at industry events, webinars, and customer forums.
    • Engage directly with senior technical and executive leaders at government agencies and strategic partners, acting as a trusted advisor to solve their most pressing security and compliance challenges.
    • Translate customer feedback and market insights into actionable intelligence for our Product, Engineering, and Strategy teams to influence the product roadmap and ensure we are building for the future of government needs.
    • Advise on the Public Sector go-to-market strategy, providing expert guidance on channel partnerships, strategic integrators (SIs), and optimal routes to market.
    • Collaborate with the Head of Corporate Strategy to integrate public sector market trends and opportunities into Wiz’s overall corporate strategy.

  • Who You Are:
    • You have 15+ years of experience in a senior, customer-facing technical role (e.g., principal architect, senior solutions engineer, technical director) with a focus on the U.S. Public Sector (DoD, IC, Federal Civilian, and/or SLED).
    • You have a proven track record in a quota-carrying or revenue-aligned capacity, demonstrating your ability to directly connect technical expertise to business outcomes.
    • You are a master communicator and storyteller, capable of translating complex technical concepts into compelling business value for an executive audience.
    • You possess deep business acumen and a strong understanding of public sector procurement, compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST, CMMC), and the partner ecosystem (SIs (FSIs, GSIs, CSPs), VARs, etc.).
    • You are a strategic thinker who can see the big picture but also loves to roll up your sleeves and work directly with customers on their hardest problems.
    • You are comfortable working effectively in an unstructured environment requiring new perspectives and creative approaches, acting with confidence and minimal supervision to drive outcomes.
    • This position may require up to 35% travel; a District of DC, Maryland or Virginia (DMV) is preferred due to the nature of this role as the US Federal Government.
    • U.S. Citizenship is required

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
