Technical Skills:
- Programming Languages: Python, Typescript/JavaScript
- Python Libraries: Flask, SQLAlchemy, Marshmallow, and Pydantic
- Databases: Relational databases, specifically Postgres and Oracle
- Additional Experience (Preferred):
- Workflow orchestration using Temporal.io (Python SDK)
- Observability via Splunk and AWS CloudWatch
- Containerized environments using Docker and ECS
Responsibilities:
- Feature Ownership: Own the end to end development of new features. Manage the discovery, implementation, and deployment, and documentation of new features in collaboration with the product manager. Review test plans and collaborate with QA engineers to test
- Technical Specifications: Write technical specifications to outline feature design, architecture, and implementation details. Present these technical specs for approval both internally and externally
- Collaboration: Work closely with external stakeholders to gather requirements, discuss solutions, and troubleshoot issues.
- Code Reviews: Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, maintain high-quality code, and prevent defects. Collaborate with team members to improve overall code quality.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate, debug, and resolve issues in both production and development environments. Work with stakeholders to determine the scope and impact of issues to aid in prioritization.
- On-Call Support: Participate in the on-call support process as the primary on-call engineer. Investigate alerts and help triage any production bugs that arise. Work with the Prod Admin and Deployments manager to finalize and deploy releases.
Required skills:
- At least 8 years of hands-on professional work experience building web applications and creating APIs.
- Should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment in a self-directed manner that requires minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards to deliver services that are not just minimally accessible, but a simple and intuitive experience for all users, including those who rely on assistive technologies.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
