About the Role:

The Principal Software Engineer (Web) will work within a Web Platforms team to set standards and best practices for how we develop software, improve application performance, and deliver high quality code at scale that drives our business goals across the Dow Jones Technology Org.

You Will:

  • Architect, develop, test, and deploy web applications for Dow Jones publications (WSJ, Barron’s, MarketWatch, etc).

  • Contribute to the web platform and developer experience strategy for the Dow Jones Tech Org

  • Work with dependent teams to help establish software architecture principles and share best practices

  • Mentor more junior engineers by reviewing their code, doing pair programming sessions, and sharing lessons learned

 
You Have:

  • A deep understanding of modern web technologies - React.Js, Next.Js, Node.Js, HTML5, CSS3, Javascript (ES6+), Typescript, etc

  • A strong technical foundation and experience building user interfaces and single and multi-page applications and deploying them to cloud-based infrastructure.

  • Experience writing internal documentation and system flow charts to keep the team informed.

  • 7+ years of experience working in a production environment; shipping code with regularity

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate cross functionally with designers, product managers, engineers, QA, and operations colleagues.

  • Prior experience working in a media ecosystem or with newsroom stakeholders is a plus!

Pay Range: $145,000 - $180,000
