Position Overview:

Come join our team at Zynga making an impact across all of the company’s games - Mobile Game Tech (MGT)! . Lead the team by setting technical direction, crafting and providing technical solutions for our games. We’re looking for exceptional engineers with a strong passion for technology and hands-on experience in Unity and C#. The Principal Software Engineer will play a key role as part of the MGT Organization, focusing on advanced technology developments for building scalable end-to-end products which can be integrated into the various games. 

What You'll Do:
  • Define, architect, & develop core engine components and build systems for iOS, Android, Kindle, and webGL using Unity and C#
  • Drive end-to-end delivery of complex initiatives, from technical design and implementation to production rollout, monitoring, and ongoing operational ownership.
  • Offer technical leadership by reviewing and guiding detailed compositions, ensuring alignment with Zynga’s long-term technical vision and standard methodologies.
  • Collaborate multi-functionally with product, engineering, and operations teams to translate product and customer requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Establish and monitor engineering processes, quality metrics, and operational benchmarks to improve software delivery and system reliability.
  • Guide incident response and postmortems, ensuring root-cause analysis and structural fixes rather than one-off patches.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing.
  • While this is a client-focused engineering role, exposure to backend systems is beneficial. Familiarity with server-side concepts—or interest in learning them—is a strong plus, especially as our compliance solutions include both client and service components.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years of software development experience
  • Strong programming experience using Unity and C# as development environments or one of the following: C/C++, Java, Python
  • Expert knowledge in mobile development, Unity, C#
  • Deep experience with Xcode, and Android Studio
  • Experience with database optimization: SQL, NoSQL, and data caching technologies/in-memory databases such as MemCached and Redis
  • Programming RESTful services
  • Strong Object Oriented design and architecture skills
  • Deep understanding of algorithms, design patterns, debugging and performance optimization
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written)

The pay range for this position in Toronto at the start of employment is expected to be between $114,300 and $164,300 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program. Regular, full-time employees are also eligible for a range of benefits at the Company, including: medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage; 14 paid holidays per calendar year; paid vacation time per calendar year (ranging from 15 to 25 days) or eligibility to participate in the Company’s discretionary time off program; up to 10 paid sick days per calendar year; paid parental and compassionate leave; wellbeing programs for mental health and other wellness support; family planning support through Maven; commuter benefits; and reimbursements for fitness-related expenses.
