Professional Level 

Level E3 Engineer - The position is a senior-level engineering role responsible for independently designing, implementing, and supporting complex enterprise systems. This role provides technical leadership, supports incident response and escalation activities, and collaborates with architects, security teams, and service owners in a mission-critical federal IT environment.  

Responsibilities 

  • Manages the software engineering process.   
  • Reviews and analyzes system specifications, interfaces and requirements.   
  • Prepares programming specifications.   
  • Analyzes existing systems and subsystems for reusability benefits and needed changes.   
  • Prepares design plans and written analyses, unit and test scripts, and documentation.   
  • May lead a software development team and mentor junior software engineers.  
  • Responsible for architecting, developing, and implementing complex software solutions that meet rigorous standards for performance, security, reliability, and compliance.   
  • Involves working closely with cross-functional product teams, including product managers, UX designers, systems engineers, and DevSecOps personnel, to deliver high-quality solutions that support mission-critical operations.   
  • Provides strategic technical guidance, mentors other engineers, evaluates emerging technologies, and contributes to continuous process improvements across the entire product development lifecycle.  

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical discipline; 8 years of experience in lieu of degree to meet education requirement     
  • 6+ years of proven experience as a Project Manager in software development, with a strong track record of delivering projects on time.  
  • Expertise in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript) and frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, React, Next.js).  
  • Proficiency in modern architectural styles (e.g., microservices, event-driven architecture) and technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka).  
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, and strong understanding of data modeling and performance tuning.  
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).  
  • Knowledge of federal security and privacy requirements (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP, NIST standards) and ability to apply them in solution design.  
  • Experience integrating with enterprise identity and access management systems, PKI, and multi-factor authentication solutions.  
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.  
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence stakeholders at all levels.  

Preferred/Desired: 

  • One or more of the following:   
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional  
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert  
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)  
  • Google Professional Cloud Architect  
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)  
Salary Range
$98,153$109,324 USD
