Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal / Senior Principal Test Conductor – Mission Planner (Flight Test)​ to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This role is located in Palmdale, CA.

**This requisition may be filled at the Principal OR Sr. Principal level based on qualifications, below**

In this role, you will serve as a principal subject matter focal point between maintenance, design engineering, and the test team - contractor and customer. Individual must be able to work under only general direction to determine and develop approaches to solutions; must be able to work both within a team environment and independently; must be self-motivated, thorough, and detailed; and must be willing to learn additional test discipline areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create test article mission plans and routing for various developmental efforts
  • Provide pre/post mission support planning and documentation, supporting appropriate decisions regarding safety, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Review and evaluate test requirements to ensure completeness/feasibility and adequacy of test program.
  • Provide laboratory support for integration testing.
  • Interface with test article/software design and analysis teams to define test configuration and data requirements.
  • Support test card development and review in collaboration with various engineering disciplines and test operations personnel.
  • Support test readiness reviews, and pre/post-test briefings.
  • Support test planning working groups as needed.
  • Conduct and contributes to pre and post-test data analyses to support anomaly identification and resolution. Maintains metrics on status of testing and constraints.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant industry mission planning software
  • Overtime, odd shifts, and weekend work may occasionally be required

Basic Qualifications (Principal):

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree AND 5 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in operations, flight test and/or training environment OR a Master of Science degree AND 3 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in operations, flight test and/or training environment OR a Ph.D. AND 0 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in operations, flight test and/or training environment
  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance prior to the commencement of employment
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
  • Must have the ability and be willing to work overtime, odd shifts, and weekends as required by the company

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree AND 9 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in operations, flight test and/or training environment OR a Master of Science degree AND 7 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in operations, flight test and/or training environment OR a Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in operations, flight test and/or training environment
  • Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance prior to the commencement of employment
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
  • Must have the ability and be willing to work overtime, odd shifts, and weekends as required by the company

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with mission planning, execution, and debriefing
  • Active, in-scope Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • STEM degree preferred.
  • Experience with mission planning tools i.e. JMPS, PFPS, AFMSS.
  • Experience with mission planning development/testing during a new aircraft developmental test program.
  • Experience as a US Air Force Pilot/Navigator/Mission Planner, US Navy or USMC Naval Flight Officer (NFO), or equivalent (Intelligence support to flight operations considered).
  • FAA rating desired but not required.

Salary Range: $97,500.00 - $146,300.00Salary Range 2: $120,900.00 - $181,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
