Job Description:

At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.

About the Role:

The Global Network team is looking for a Principal Program Manager – Technical to own the Remitly Business disbursement program: the network capabilities, partnerships, and platform investments that enable Remitly to move money to and on behalf of businesses. The Global Network team is a fundamental driver of Remitly's ability to reach international customers and provide a diverse set of disbursement methods. From the quality of integrations, to a world class money transfer platform that disburses billions of dollars, to the customer-facing experiences we build, the Global Network team directly impacts the Remitly experience. In this role, you won't build the platform yourself — you will work cross-functionally with platform owners to influence what gets built to support your program.

As a Principal leader, you will define and drive the long-term vision and strategy for business disbursement at Remitly. This is a high-consequence, high-scale program: you will work with external partners, shape commercial terms, and drive the platform capabilities that make business payouts reliable, fast, and defensible. You will architect the future state of this program — scalable integration frameworks, reusable infrastructure, and differentiated capabilities that compound across markets — and you will use AI as a core working tool to get there, accelerating discovery, analysis, and execution well beyond what a single owner could traditionally deliver.

As the single threaded owner, you will identify bold, high-conviction bets that create durable competitive advantage. You will determine where to invest, where to standardize and platformize, and where to innovate — including where AI can unlock structural differentiation in speed, cost, coverage, and resiliency. You will balance immediate customer and commercial opportunities with foundational investments that compound over time, and you will be accountable for the program's vision, roadmap, and measurable outcomes.

You will report to the Director of Global Money Movement and drive outcomes through influence across engineering, platform, compliance, and business teams.

You Will:

  • Own the end-to-end strategy, roadmap, and measurable outcomes for Remitly's business disbursement program — and personally execute against it, from partner escalations to launch checklists

  • Use AI tools as a force multiplier across your work — from analysis and technical discovery to program operations — and raise the bar for how the team applies AI to move faster with higher quality

  • Work directly with external partners and represent the program with Business Development and business unit leadership, advocating at the VP level for the investments and commercial structures the program needs

  • Develop a deep understanding of Remitly's services and platform architecture, evaluating how they interoperate with partner APIs and local payment rails to inform architecture decisions and scalable integration patterns

  • Drive internal platform and engineering teams to build the features business disbursement requires, through clear requirements, structured problem solving, and strong technical judgment

  • Identify and prioritize customer pain points, market shifts, and competitive opportunities to shape a differentiated and defensible program strategy

  • Ground decisions in data — define the program's success metrics, run your own analyses to size opportunities and diagnose issues, and use the results to drive prioritization and investment tradeoffs

  • Elevate product thinking within the team by fostering clarity of vision, customer obsession, and a high bar for scalable, platform oriented solutions

You Have:

  • 10+ years of program management experience

  • Proven experience defining and driving long term product or program vision and translating strategy into measurable business and customer outcomes

  • Experience working directly with external partners — driving technical integrations and managing ongoing partner relationships — in collaboration with business development teams

  • Strong technical fluency, with the ability to engage deeply in architecture discussions, reason about APIs and distributed systems, and make informed tradeoffs with engineering

  • Experience owning a product or platform with clear accountability for performance metrics such as reliability, speed, cost, and growth

  • Strong analytical skills: comfortable pulling and analyzing data yourself (e.g., SQL) to inform decisions, measure outcomes, and make the case for investments

  • Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders — including VP-level executives — and aligning cross functional teams in ambiguous, high impact environments

  • An operator's bias for action: you are as comfortable executing the work yourself — writing docs, testing integrations, chasing down blockers — as you are setting the strategy

  • Strong product judgment, with the ability to balance short term results with foundational investments that create durable competitive advantage

  • A track record of effectively applying AI tools to your own work — accelerating analysis, prototyping, and decision making — and of helping others do the same

  • Experience in payments, remittance, financial infrastructure, or global network platforms strongly preferred

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
