What success looks like in this role:

Discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements to existing products or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable product features, elements and whole product deliverables. Compiles and evaluates research market product requirements and identifies enhancements to current features and functionality. Establishes product specifications and coordinates cross-functionally with engineering, product development, marketing and sales, to ensure successful product design and implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops, manages and optimizes multiple large, complex and/or high value/ strategically important product line.

  • Leverages in-depth understanding of the market, competition and related business challenges and priorities to create and maintain a robust and informative product vision and roadmap.

  • Creates business plans to secure funding, develop go-to-market strategies and build compelling product business cases / value propositions.

  • Manages feature creation, identifies business rules and business impact and works with all stakeholders to ensure cross-team alignment and support.

  • Engages with key stakeholders to develop pricing strategies and ensure material contribution to ROI.

  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct market research to understand customer needs, competitive landscape, and industry trends. Use insights to inform product decisions.

  • Identifying business needs: Gather feedback from customers, stakeholders, and users to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.

  • Product Planning and Prioritization: Translate the product strategy into actionable plans. Prioritize features, enhancements, and bug fixes based on impact and feasibility.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and support teams to ensure successful product development and launch.

  • Managing Product Lifecycle: Oversee the product from conception through launch, growth, maturity, and eventual retirement. Make decisions regarding updates and end-of-life.

  • Setting and Tracking Performance Metrics: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success. Analyze data to assess performance and inform future decisions.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate product plans, progress, and results to stakeholders at all levels, ensuring alignment and transparency.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in product development and market adoption, and develop mitigation strategies.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

Educational Background

  • BA/BS degree and 8+ years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience Master’s degree preferred

Industry and Product Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of the industry in which the product operates.

  • Ability to quickly grasp technical aspects and features of the product.

  • Familiarity with competitors and market trends.

Technical Skills

  • Basic technical literacy, especially for software or technology products.

  • Experience with product development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and design teams.

Business and Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience with market research, data analysis, and financial modeling.

  • Understanding of business strategy, pricing, and product lifecycle management.

  • Ability to develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for products.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with stakeholders, customers, and cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.

  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills to articulate product vision and strategy.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Proven leadership and team management experience.

  • Ability to motivate and align teams toward a common goal.

  • Experience working collaboratively with diverse teams (engineering, marketing, sales, support, etc.).

Customer Focus

  • Empathy for customer needs and pain points.

  • Experience gathering and analyzing customer feedback to inform product decisions.

  • Ability to prioritize features and improvements based on customer value.

Project Management Skills

  • Experience in planning, organizing, and managing projects from inception to launch.

  • Ability to manage timelines, resources, and budgets effectively.

  • Familiarity with project management tools and software.
