Role and Responsibilities

As a Principal Product Manager for the Yahoo News App, you will help shape and deliver the product vision for a trusted, personalized, and engaging mobile news experience. This role requires strong product instincts, sound judgment, and a deep understanding of how people consume information on mobile. You will help teams find signal in complex data and user behavior and turn it into clear product direction.

You will guide large cross functional initiatives and work closely with engineering, design, editorial, and platform partners across the Yahoo ecosystem. You will help teams move quickly by creating clarity, setting structure, and ensuring that product decisions connect directly to user value and company objectives. You will bring a high bar for product quality, usability, and execution and you will help reinforce a culture that values speed, thoughtful experimentation, and data informed iteration.

This role offers significant autonomy. You will influence pillar level priorities, shape investment decisions, surface opportunities across content and personalization, and help define the roadmap for how users experience video, audio, text, and emerging formats in the Yahoo News App. You will also help strengthen product practices across the team through clear communication, structured thinking, and mentorship.

Specifically, you will

• Shape product strategy for features that improve engagement, trust, and long term user value

• Turn complex signals, data, and feedback into clear product opportunities and direction

• Lead ideation, prioritization, and delivery of content and discovery experiences that help users stay informed

• Refine onboarding, navigation, and notification experiences to drive growth and retention

• Collaborate across engineering, design, editorial, data, and platform teams to ship reliable and scalable features

• Raise the quality of specs, design reviews, and product decisions through thoughtful feedback and structured thinking

• Advance a culture of fast learning through research, testing, and iteration

• Help teams balance speed and quality and make clear tradeoffs in pursuit of meaningful outcomes

• Provide mentorship and guidance to PMs and cross functional partners and help elevate decision making across the team

• Influence roadmap planning and investment decisions at the pillar level and ensure visibility with senior leadership

Minimum Qualifications

Deep experience building and shipping mobile apps in Android and iOS.

Highly effective written and presentation communication skills in a cross-functional and remote environment

Seven or more years of product management or related experience delivering meaningful consumer facing products

• Proven ability to create clarity from complex or noisy information and turn it into strong product direction

• Demonstrated strength in setting priorities and driving outcomes with speed, conviction, and structure

• Deep instincts in understanding user needs and turning them into simple and effective experiences

• Fluency in data analysis, experimentation, and user research and the ability to translate insights into momentum

• Experience guiding cross functional teams and aligning engineering, design, editorial, and platform partners

• Experience working in content, media, or other ecosystems where trust, quality, and relevance shape user expectations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in news, media, streaming, or content heavy products

• Familiarity with video, audio, and interactive storytelling formats

• Ability to create order, clarity, and forward progress in complex product spaces

• Experience operating in fast moving consumer product organizations that ship continuously

The compensation for this position ranges from $136,125.00 - $283,750.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
