About Inspiren

Inspiren offers the most complete and connected ecosystem in senior living. Founded by Michael Wang, a former Green Beret turned cardiothoracic nurse, Inspiren proves that compassionate care and technology can coexist - bringing peace of mind to residents, families, and staff.

Our integrated solutions seamlessly fit into existing workflows, capturing everything happening within a community. Backed by nurse specialists and powerful analytics, we provide the data operators need to make informed clinical and operational decisions - driving efficiency, profitability, and better care outcomes.

About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Product Management, Strategic Expansion, to own the product strategy and roadmap for Inspiren’s most important expansion opportunities—across new markets, new segments, and new experiences. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, where hardware, software, AI, and clinical workflows come together to unlock new growth.

You will take ambiguous, high‑stakes questions like “where should Inspiren go next?” and turn them into clear, durable product and market directions. You will define which segments and use cases we pursue, how our platform needs to evolve, and how we deliver differentiated value that drives expansion revenue and retention. And you won’t stop at strategy - you will own execution alongside it, partnering closely with Engineering, Commercial, and Clinical Success to drive validated bets through launch, learn from real‑world signals, and iterate until they scale.

This is a hands‑on leadership role and a key driver of Inspiren’s future. You will be accountable for turning technical capabilities in hardware, firmware, connectivity, and AI into real‑world impact for residents, caregivers, and operators - and into measurable business results.

Beyond owning expansion strategy and execution, you will raise the bar for how product is practiced across the organization. You will apply your deep product expertise to identify new opportunities, guide rigorous discovery, and evolve our product development and portfolio processes. You will work closely with Commercial, Product Marketing, Engineering (hardware, firmware, software, and Data & AI), Design, Clinical Success and Operations partners, reporting directly to the Head of Product.

What you’ll do

  • Define the Strategic Expansion Direction: Own the long‑term vision and strategy for how Inspiren expands into new markets, segments, and use cases. Build and maintain a clear expansion thesis and sequencing over a 1–3 year horizon which includes how we adapt our hardware‑enabled platform. Balance near‑term wins and cost optimizations with longer‑term platform investments.
  • Lead Discovery for New Bets: Champion and execute discovery for new markets, segments, and product extensions. Define the “why” and “what” behind our most strategic expansion bets and validate them with customers, data, and business cases. Use AI to move faster from hypothesis to evidence: build working prototypes, run experiments, tap into customer signals at scale, and generate artifacts users can react to directly, rather than waiting on traditional handoffs. Know when a bet is ready to move from discovery into build - and make that call decisively.
  • Own Execution, Launch, and Iteration: Take validated bets from 0→1 and through launch, partnering with Engineering, Design, Commercial, and Clinical Success. Own post‑launch iteration—use real‑world signal to adapt fast, sequence the right follow‑on investments, and hold the team accountable to measurable expansion outcomes. You are not just identifying opportunities; you are accountable for seeing them through.
  • Establish Expansion Product Excellence: Introduce and evolve best‑in‑class practices for expansion‑oriented product development—from opportunity assessment and experimentation through launch, scale‑up, and lifecycle management. Raise the quality bar for how we analyze markets, test theses, and make go/no‑go decisions.
  • Cross‑Functional Expansion Leadership: Collaborate closely with folks across the company to ensure our expansion bets are grounded in real operational and commercial realities.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate expansion vision, strategy, risks, and progress to all levels of the organization. Create simple, compelling artifacts that enable fast, aligned decision‑making around expansion investments.
  • Raise the AI Bar for Product Practice: Bring a systematic approach to using AI across the product lifecycle. Build reusable frameworks and workflows that elevate how the broader product team operates, from discovery through delivery, and push the boundaries of what PMs can ship directly.
  • Mentorship and Team Development: Act as a mentor and coach for other product managers. Share your expertise on expansion, portfolio thinking, and lifecycle management to help build a world‑class product team.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of product management experience, including significant ownership of products or initiatives that drove strategic expansion (new markets, segments, or lines of business) from concept through launch and scale.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a platform that includes hardware‑enabled or sensor‑based systems in production environments, or strong adjacent experience with complex, multi‑surface products.
  • Proven ability to lead highly ambiguous problem spaces and drive a rigorous, outcome‑oriented discovery process—balancing user needs, market dynamics, technical constraints, and business goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to move between strategy and execution—equally comfortable building an expansion thesis and rolling up your sleeves to drive it through launch and early iteration with a cross‑functional team.
  • Demonstrated, systematic use of AI that has materially changed how you do product work. You can point to new skill sets you've developed (e.g., writing SQL, building dashboards, doing data analysis), reusable systems you've built (not one-off prompts), and concrete evidence that your speed and quality of output have stepped up.
  • Strong track record establishing and evolving best‑in‑class product practices for discovery, testing, and iteration with cross‑functional partners.
  • Deep fluency in using data, feedback, and operational metrics to inform strategy, while balancing real‑world constraints and customer context.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to align technical and non‑technical stakeholders around complex expansion and platform tradeoffs.
  • Experience where product decisions had clear, visible business consequences (customer outcomes, revenue, retention, or operational impact).

Bonus Points

  • Experience building or extending hardware‑enabled AI or computer vision products that rely on real‑time device data and span on‑device processing and cloud‑based systems—with a clear link to improved outcomes or business performance.
  • Experience in health tech, senior living, or other regulated or safety‑critical environments where reliability, privacy, and trust are paramount.
  • Experience managing or mentoring other product managers.
  • Experience in startup or growth‑stage environments

Details

  • The annual salary for this role is $230,000–270,000 + equity + benefits (including medical, dental, and vision).
  • Flexible PTO.
  • Location: Remote, US. NYC preferred.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
