About the role:
Atlassian has a wealth of data about how customers work - from the work items they create and manage every day in Jira, to data and information available across Atlassian's Teamwork Graph. As a Principal Product Manager on the AI team in Jira, you will focus on delivering AI capabilities which leverage this data to help teams be more productive. You will drive the development and integration of cutting-edge AI technologies into Jira, empowering our teams to work smarter, more efficiently, and more collaboratively. Your customers are end users as well as internal feature teams who will leverage your work to implement AI at scale. You will be instrumental in shaping the product roadmap for AI experiences in Jira, influencing organizational direction, and ensuring AI can valuable to millions of Jira users worldwide.
  • Set the strategy and roadmap for AI capabilities in Jira, turning Atlassian's rich data into breakthrough, customer-facing experiences.
  • Be a key AI voice in Jira, shaping the broader product strategy and influencing how AI shows up across the product.
  • Lead and inspire cross-functional teams - partnering with engineering, design, data science, and more - to deliver AI features at scale.
  • Fuel innovation across Jira by enabling internal teams to build on shared AI capabilities while ensuring coherence and quality of experiences.
  • Forge alignment with platform partners, driving shared vision, execution, and investment in AI foundations that accelerate Jira's success.
  • Define and drive key success metrics, using experimentation and data to drive iteration and measurable impact.
  • Stay close to customers, uncovering pain points, validating concepts, and shaping product direction with their needs at the center.
  • Scan the horizon, bringing in industry trends and emerging AI technologies to inform the next big bets.
  • Act as an AI thought leader, mentoring peers, up-leveling teams, and spreading best practices across Atlassian.
  • Communicate with clarity and influence, aligning stakeholders at every level - from delivery teams to executive leadership.

On your first day, we'll expect you have:
  • 10+ years of product management experienceTechnical fluency with a focus on AI, machine learning, and related technologies
  • True customer obsession - you go out of your way to talk to customers and solve their problems
  • Experience inspiring and mobilizing cross-functional teams towards a common vision
  • Experience developing a multi-year product strategy and roadmap, gaining buy-in to executive leadership, and rallying a cross-functional team
  • A track record of building relationships and influencing all levels of the organization.
  • Experience building a compelling business case for new opportunities

Typically, product managers at this level at Atlassian have:
  • Computer science or a related technical degree

Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $193,500 - $252,625
Zone B: $174,600 - $227,950
Zone C: $161,100 - $210,325
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
