The Role

SoFi is looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of our home loans local market sales team. This role is pivotal in transforming how our local sales professionals, including Loan Officers, connect with SoFi members and manage in market relationships.

Join the forefront of our Home Lending Product & Platform transformation. While SoFi is a leading, fast-growing digital lender, we know that the local ecosystem remains absolutely critical to the home-buying journey. This creates a rare opportunity to own a true 0->1 launch, designing and standing up our first local market approach while simultaneously defining the long term product strategy. The role blends building and scaling with rapid learning: launching early, iterating quickly, and using data to continuously inform both product and business decisions. You will be crucial in launching our new in-market channel, specifically by empowering local loan officers to efficiently originate loans. This is a unique opportunity to build this channel from the ground up and redefine the in-market lending experience.

This role is inherently cross-functional—you will work closely with engineering, design, data science, user research, marketing, operations, finance, risk, legal, compliance and executive teams to set a product strategy, define, and prioritize features. You’ll play the critical role of bridging the technical and business worlds to deliver product enhancements that delight our members and drive our business forward. You will be expected to set ambitious goals, sweat the details and deliver with urgency.

What you’ll do

  • Define and execute a groundbreaking product vision for truly disruptive innovation that sets the industry standard for in-market sale channels.
  • Lead the evaluation, testing, and rapid rollout of cutting-edge technologies, including AI and intelligent automation, to dramatically boost in-market sales team capabilities, maximize throughput, and unlock sales capacity.
  • Drive efficiency and effectiveness for our in-market sales organization by architecting scalable, auditable, and hyper-reliable solutions that eliminate friction and simplify complex, high-stakes workflows.
  • Develop solutions that optimize local sales processes, elevate client interactions, and drive efficiency across lead management, opportunity tracking, and the entire loan origination lifecycle.
  • Own, define and prioritize the product backlog for your engineering squad, writing detailed requirements and partnering closely with developers.
  • Deeply immerse yourself in the day-to-day realities of our Business and Sales teams to master their processes, translating complex operational needs into intuitive, high-performance tooling
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align on requirements and timelines.
  • Thrive in a high-velocity agile environment, making decisive trade-offs and delivering iteratively while maintaining laser focus on game-changing, long-term strategic objectives.
  • Be a champion of SoFi’s values

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, ideally in a technical, finance, or quantitative field.
  • 7+ years of product management.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex sales workflows into simple, usable tools.
  • Direct experience with in-market sales teams delivering solutions that empower the sales force and enhance client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage processes and customer relationship technology to create a seamless pre-purchase and purchase experience.
  • Familiarity with mortgage regulatory frameworks and comfort partnering closely with Legal and Compliance
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and data-driven mindset; able to dive into financial and operational metrics.
  • Experience owning end-to-end product delivery, from discovery through launch and iteration.
  • High bias for action and ownership—comfortable operating in ambiguous, cross-functional environments.

Nice to have

  • Direct experience at a mortgage or HELOC broker, correspondent lender, or fintech home lending platform
  • Experience working closely with licensed in market sales teams
  • Experience working with operations leaders, compliance teams, and executive stakeholders.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
