So, if you are talented, driven, creative, and eager to join a dynamic, globally-connected team, then we want to talk!

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for a driven, Principal-level Product Manager who learns fast, is humble, and can manage extensive ambiguity across some of the company's, and industry’s most cutting-edge machine-learning initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a technical and data-driven team player who understands how the details and goals of their product fit into the bigger picture of The Trade Desk’s mission of creating a better advertising ecosystem for the open internet. They will be growth-oriented and able to strive to find a product-market fit with their teams by solving problems for our clients.

The kind of person who joins The Trade Desk Product Team is fearless, courageous, passionate, and willing to dream big and then execute on it. We are committed to helping you grow, challenging you with hard, meaningful work, and celebrating our successes and learnings together. We also value strong leadership, asking our PMs to take on large, ambitious, and often ambiguous projects that can help extend our lead in the industry.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

As the voice of our customers globally, you’ll deeply understand how to make users’ lives better through software. One of our core product principles is “do the right thing”. We expect you to represent our company and exercise good judgement, by balancing the needs of our diverse agency clients, partnerships, and the programmatic industry.

As a Principal Product Manager in Planning and Forecasting, you will lead the development of scalable, data-driven solutions that empower global advertisers to forecast spend, reach, and performance across diverse markets and channels. You’ll own the vision and roadmap for forecasting capabilities, partnering closely with data science, engineering, and UX teams to deliver intuitive tools that help clients plan campaigns with confidence. Your work will shape how advertisers allocate budgets, optimize media mix, and anticipate outcomes—driving billions in ad spend through predictive modeling and scenario planning.

This role requires deep collaboration with clients and internal stakeholders across regions to understand nuanced planning needs, regulatory constraints, and market dynamics. You’ll translate complex forecasting requirements into actionable product strategies, balancing precision with usability. As a senior leader, you’ll mentor PMs, influence cross-org priorities, and ensure alignment between long-term product vision and evolving customer expectations. Success in this role means delivering forecasting systems that are not only technically robust but also trusted by marketers to guide strategic investment decisions.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

· 10+ years of Product Management experience.

· Product Strategy & Vision: Define and drive the long-term roadmap for forecasting and planning tools that support global advertising clients.

· Forecasting Expertise: Deep understanding of predictive modeling, scenario planning, and media mix forecasting across digital channels.

· Client-Centric Mindset: Experience working directly with advertisers or agencies to understand campaign planning needs and translate them into product capabilities.

· Cross-Functional Leadership: Proven ability to lead and influence across data science, engineering, UX, and go-to-market teams.

· Global Market Awareness: Familiarity with regional advertising trends, regulatory environments, and cultural nuances that impact forecasting accuracy.

· Data Fluency: Ability to interpret complex datasets, collaborate with data scientists, and ensure models are both rigorous and explainable to end users.

· Scalable Systems Thinking: Experience designing systems that support high-volume forecasting across multiple markets, formats, and objectives.

· Strong Communication Skills: Capable of distilling technical concepts into clear narratives for executives, clients, and cross-functional partners.

· Mentorship & Influence: Track record of coaching PMs and shaping product culture through thought leadership and structured feedback.

· Bias for Action: Comfortable navigating ambiguity, making trade-offs, and driving progress in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.

· Passion: Your work matters. Your features matter. You care and give your all.

· Grit: Sometimes solutions take creative thinking and multiple iterations. You try many different approaches the right answer.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
