The Role:

This role will oversee the multi-year transformation of Minted’s customization platform to enable customers to personalize their ideal stationery and art designs. Minted’s artist community contributes winning designs which our customers use to celebrate the important moments in their lives: weddings, new babies, birthdays, holidays, graduation, and beyond.  Our premium products rely on a robust and flexible platform for rendering images, photos, text and color on phones, computer screens, and for physical printing. We seek to incorporate new AI capabilities to improve customization power and product quality.

Anticipated Start Date: August 1, 2025

We’re open to hiring in either San Francisco or remote. Our SF-based Product team has an in-person 3x a week schedule.

As part of our recruitment process, we want to ensure the security and legitimacy of all communication channels. Therefore, please be advised that all official correspondences from our team will be sent from email addresses ending with "@minted.com".

You will:

  • Quickly develop a strong grasp of Minted’s customization use cases, technical capabilities and gaps by exploring our tech stack, user data, and tech ecosystem opportunities
  • In close partnership with engineering and product partners, outline and then execute a multi-year replatform strategy designed to unlock value along the way
  • Incorporate feedback from product, business and eng partners throughout the workflow: creating of designs, customization of designs and printing of designs. Document these use cases
  • Identify possible technology partners, evaluate them and make build/buy recommendations
  • Develop and propose a phased roadmap and resourcing model for executing this strategy.  That resourcing model should leverage existing and new talent
  • Coordinate this program across different teams of product managers, engineers and stakeholders to ensure product success
  • Drive product execution including project kickoffs, daily scrums, sprint planning, maintaining product specs, rollout plan and backlog
  • Define, monitor, and report on key success metrics for engagement and uptake of newly launched products
  • Balance the operational needs of the organization on the existing platform and help us focus on the replacement of that platform

You are:

  • A platform evangelist who loves to revamp technical infrastructure to unlock high business value
  • Results oriented.  You are most comfortable in work environments which are outcome-oriented and merit-based, and are highly motivated by goal accomplishment in the face of stringent deadlines
  • Data driven. You make your product decisions based on data. You passionately own quality delivery in your product area, keep a continuous health check
  • Detail-oriented. You are able to identify and resolve edge cases as well as functional details in order to deliver a high-quality product experience
  • Receptive to change.  You are flexible, adaptable, innovative, and open in response to competitive pressure and market change
  • A systems thinker. You intuitively understand interdependencies, ask follow-up questions, and drive to solutions that balance the success of initiatives across revenue, quality, brand, and cost goals
  • A collaborative thinker.  You enjoy an environment that has been structured for collaboration and interdependencies
  • A strong communicator with the ability to communicate effectively, create common knowledge, generate buy-in, and influence stakeholders and senior management towards recommended decisions
  • Someone with excellent product judgment, the ability to make sound decisions based on tradeoffs of different solutions, complex problems, various stakeholders, and many constraints
  • A deeply technical Product Manager; you are as fascinated by the technical solutions as the primary engineers in this space

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience building and changing scaled platforms.  Ideally, with a focus on image creation and management at scale.  Familiar with GenAI workflows, RAG and data infrastructure
  • Experience in the web to print industry; high-speed printing presses and the raster image processing needed for high quality print products
  • 5+ years product management experience, building and shipping ecommerce or direct-to-consumer successful products and features
  • Superb analytical skills and ability to effectively use data to investigate and solve problems and make decisions
  • Demonstrated an understanding of technology/architecture and effective partnership with engineering to identify technical solutions based on tradeoffs of user experience, technical debt, latency, scalability, reliability, time to market etc.
  • Project management skills: Ability to plan, set expectations, make and meet commitments. Provide structure, process and project management to cross-functional teams
  • Intense commitment to quality: Demonstrated focus on quality of product/customer experience and testing/debugging

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
