Harness is led by technologist and entrepreneur Jyoti Bansal, founder of AppDynamics (acquired by Cisco for $3.7B). The company has raised ~$570M in Series E venture funding, is valued at $5.5B, and backed by top investors including Goldman Sachs, Menlo Ventures, IVP, Google Ventures, J.P. Morgan, Capital One Ventures, Citi Ventures, ServiceNow, Splunk Ventures and more. Harness is building the industry’s leading AI-powered software delivery platform, enabling teams worldwide to build, test, and deliver software faster, safer, and more reliably. Writing code is only 30–40% of the engineering lifecycle — the rest involves testing, deployments, security, compliance, and optimization. Harness brings AI and automation to this outer loop, turning complex, time-consuming workflows into streamlined processes at massive global scale.

The platform includes industry leading products in CI/CD, Feature Flags, Cloud Cost Management, Service Reliability, Chaos Engineering, Software Engineering Insights, Internal Developer Experience, and API discovery, observability, governance, and runtime protection. Over the past year, Harness powered 128M deployments, 81M builds, 1.2T API calls protected, and $1.9B in cloud spend optimized, helping customers like United Airlines and Choice Hotels accelerate releases by up to 75% and achieve 10x DevOps efficiency. With employees in over 25 countries, Harness is shaping the future of AI-driven software delivery — and we’re looking for exceptional talent to help us move even faster.

Position Summary

Harness is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead strategic initiatives within our Continuous Integration (CI) and Code products.

This is a hands-on, deeply technical PM role for someone who lives and breathes developer experience. You’ve written code, worked with Git, debugged pipelines, and felt the pain of slow builds, flaky tests, and broken caching. You’ll partner closely with engineering, design, and customers to deliver developer-first, intelligent CI experiences that dramatically improve build speed, reliability, and cost efficiency.

This is a high-impact, high-autonomy individual-contributor role. You’ll operate across teams, shape product strategy, and influence company-level direction while staying close to code, customers, and the real developer workflow.
About the Role
  • Define and own the strategic roadmap for key areas of Harness CI - from build performance and cloud infrastructure to test intelligence and developer productivity.
  • Partner deeply with engineering to define requirements, validate technical feasibility, and drive timely, high-quality releases.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand developer workflows, pain points, and emerging trends in CI/CD.
  • Translate data and insights into clear priorities, balancing near-term delivery with long-term innovation around performance, efficiency, and intelligence.
  • Drive execution with urgency, anticipating blockers and proactively unblocking dependencies across multiple teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with GTM, Developer Relations, and Marketing to drive adoption and create technical content that resonates with developers.
  • Mentor and influence across teams, raising the bar for technical product rigor, roadmap clarity, and decision velocity.
  • Represent Harness externally in customer meetings, webinars, and industry events, showcasing how Harness is redefining modern CI/CD.
About You
  • Developer at heart – fluent in Git, build tools, and CI/CD workflows. You’ve written code, built pipelines, and understand what frustrates or delights developers.
  • Execution-driven – you move fast, simplify complexity, and get things done. You bias toward iteration over analysis paralysis.
  • Customer-obsessed – you think in user problems, not feature lists. You validate through feedback and usage data, not intuition alone.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity – you can operate with limited context, set direction, and rally teams in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Strong communicator – you distill technical depth into crisp narratives that drive clarity and alignment across teams.
  • Builder mindset – you thrive on solving developer problems and shaping the future of how software is delivered.
  • AI-forward – you’re passionate about applying machine learning and automation to make CI pipelines faster, smarter, and more autonomous - and you see AI as a tool to amplify both developer and product workflows.
  • Startup experience is a strong plus – you’re energized by velocity, lean teams, and hands-on execution, and you know how to turn constraints into momentum.
Qualifications
  • BSc or higher in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 7+ years total experience, including:
    • 3+ years in software development or engineering.
    • 4+ years in product management for developer tools, DevOps, or CI/CD products.
  • Deep understanding of modern CI/CD pipelines and build/test systems.
  • Hands-on familiarity with technologies like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bazel, Gradle, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/GCP/Azure.
  • Experience or curiosity in AI/ML applications for developer productivity (e.g., build/test intelligence, predictive optimization).
  • Proven track record of shipping complex, high-quality products quickly, with measurable business and developer impact.
  • Strong data-driven decision-making and analytical skills.
Work Location
  • Remote from within the U.S or Hybrid if you work near one of our offices.

  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

  • Monthly internet reimbursement
  • Commuter benefits

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
