That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.

The Principal Product Manager will oversee a foundational piece of the Confluence product: how users navigate through all of the rich content on Confluence. As companies scale, maintaining a clear source of truth and finding content easily becomes ever more important. The Organize & Navigate team is responsible for improving how users and teams organize their work in Confluence and easily access the most important content, while harnessing the underlying power of Confluence. You will set a clear strategy and north star for the team, then work with cross-functional partners to build towards that vision, with a laser focus on delivering user and business impact at every step of the way.
You'll join a product-led company where product managers set strategy and lead teams towards big goals. You'll be working on the fundamental building blocks of Confluence, with the potential to impact how tens of thousands of people work each day.
You will:
  • Deeply understand our customers and their needs, and develop a strong point of view on how Confluence's organizational framing should evolve based on those needs
  • Establish and evangelize a vision for the Organize & Navigate team, together with cross-functional partners
  • Work across teams to navigate intersecting product roadmaps, keeping in mind both your team's strategy as well as the bigger picture of Confluence
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, data scientists, designers, and stakeholders, to define product requirements, features, and specifications based on customer feedback and market insights
  • Drive the end-to-end product development process, taking an MVP / iterative approach to feature development and learning from what we ship
  • Monitor and analyze business and user metrics to assess product performance and identify areas for improvement or optimizations

On your first day, we'll expect you to:
  • Have 6+ years of product management experience, on end-user-facing experiences
  • Tackle hard problems with intellectual rigor and curiosity
  • Context switch from talking about the big picture all the way down to implementation details
  • Dive deep into understanding our current product, both its capabilities and its constraints
  • Communicate clearly and convey complex ideas to colleagues with both technical and non-technical backgrounds
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners and build a high-performing team
  • Balance big picture evolution with quick wins, driving toward learning and impact at every step of the way

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
