Scopely is looking for a Principal Producer to join an Unannounced Title working with External Development, based in Culver City on a hybrid basis or remotely in the US & Canada, or Europe on a remote basis!

We are in the early stages of development on an ambitious, unannounced AAA mobile game, and we’re assembling a team of passionate game makers to craft unforgettable experiences and immersive adventures that players will love.

At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play, every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues, or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.

Slate Development Group owns Scopely’s editorial and content strategy, including the company’s greenlighting, Game Development Framework (GDF), studio strategy (organic and inorganic) and slate-wide budget and investment strategy.

What You Will Do:

As the Principal Producer, you will be integral to crafting an amazing cross-platform player experience, working closely with the Creative team on a new and exciting game. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing the narrative production, ensuring the delivery of exceptional storytelling, driving the content review process, and serving as the primary production liaison with our IP partner. This is a unique opportunity to assist the creative efforts in the early stages of the project, helping to form the foundational storytelling processes and shape the core game experience for players.

  • Work closely with the Executive Producer and Creative Director to lead the narrative development and growth of our narrative team.
  • Drive the narrative production, including story development, creative bibles development, VO recording, cutscenes, quests, and other storytelling pieces.
  • Build strong relationships and be the primary production contact with our IP partners.
  • Work closely with the Narrative Director and Narrative team members to deliver the game’s narrative conceit, arc, pillars, as well as character stories, dialogue, and quests.
  • Work closely with external development partners to implement the narrative vision and designs.
  • Manage and optimize the IP review process to reduce end to end turnaround times.
  • Oversee and enhance narrative production processes, including project planning, scoping, scheduling, roadmaps, and requirements gathering, to ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Ensure that vision and goals are clearly defined, transparent, and understood at all levels of the organization.
  • Form and nurture cohesive, high-performing teams that are empowered to self-organize and achieve outstanding results.

What We’re Looking For:

  • At least 8+ years of production experience in the video game industry, with a focus on AAA game development.
  • Proven experience in the development and successful shipping of AAA narrative RPG titles, demonstrating the ability to manage large-scale projects.
  • Comprehensive experience producing narrative content end-to-end, encompassing story development, quest design, cinematics, VO performance, and animation.
  • Deep understanding of agile project management and software development methodologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with both internal and external development teams; distributed development experience is essential.
  • Experience collaborating with narrative writers, editors, audio designers, and artists in a fast-paced, agile environment. The ideal candidate will possess a great sense of urgency, enjoy taking the initiative, thrive at juggling multiple priorities, and seamlessly adapt to shifting needs.
  • Analytical, observant, and strategic, with the ability to apply the right balance between data and qualitative information for effective decision-making.
  • Expectation of international travel on a quarterly basis.

Bonus Points

  • Proficiency in both Mandarin & English is a huge plus.

Please ensure that the résumé/CV you attach is written in English.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
