As a Principal Platform Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the enterprise-wide technology foundation that powers innovation, scalability, and resilience. You’ll define the strategic direction for platform architecture, automation, and governance—enabling engineering teams to build securely and efficiently at scale. This is a high-impact, visible role where your vision and technical leadership will drive how infrastructure evolves across the organization.
Note: This position can work Remote in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or California
In this role you'll- Define and champion the long-term platform engineering strategy, including architecture standards, golden paths, and platform-as-a-product operating models
- Architect enterprise-scale platform blueprints across multi-cloud and hybrid environments, including landing zones and policy frameworks
- Establish and scale policy-as-code strategies and enterprise Ansible Automation Platform deployments, including security baselines and compliance automation
- Design observability strategy across the organization, including telemetry standards, SLO frameworks, and AIOps integrations
- Define AI/ML and model operations platform frameworks, including model serving, governance, and agent infrastructure
- Lead architecture review boards to enforce standards, resolve cross-team challenges, and guide build vs. buy decisions
- Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure regulatory alignment and strong security posture
- Shape long-term platform roadmaps through capacity planning, infrastructure forecasting, and FinOps strategy
- Lead technical enablement and community of practice initiatives to drive adoption of platform capabilities
- Provide technical leadership for large-scale, cross-functional initiatives spanning infrastructure, security, and engineering teams
- You have 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud architecture, or enterprise infrastructure, including experience in technical leadership and governance (Required)
- You have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field (Required) — an equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered in lieu of a degree
- You have a Master’s degree in a related field (Preferred)
- You have experience working in financial services or another regulated industry (Preferred)
- You hold industry certifications such as TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, RHCA, or CKS (Preferred)
- You translate complex business goals into clear, scalable platform strategies and influence outcomes across teams without direct authority
- You bring deep expertise across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), including multi-cloud strategy, governance, and cost optimization
- You have hands-on expertise with Ansible and enterprise automation frameworks, including policy enforcement and orchestration
- You design and scale Kubernetes platforms with strong governance, reliability, and operational excellence
- You build robust observability ecosystems using tools like OpenTelemetry and New Relic, with strong SLO and AIOps practices
- You understand AI/ML platform architecture, including model lifecycle management and generative AI infrastructure
- You excel at evaluating technologies, vendors, and investments, balancing innovation with business value
- You’re a thought leader who actively contributes through mentorship, training, speaking, or technical writing

Compensation & Benefits- Targeted starting salary range (based on experience): $135,000 - $178,000
