Epirus is a high-growth technology company dedicated to overcoming the asymmetric challenges inherent to the future of national security. Epirus' flagship product, Leonidas, is a software-defined system built using intelligent power management techniques which allow power-hungry systems to do more with less.
Job Summary: This is an exciting role in a growing company. The ideal candidate for the position is someone who has experience designing and analyzing complex structures and electronics assemblies. In this role, you will work closely with a talented engineering team to design & analyze cutting edge electronic and mechanical assemblies to survive in harsh environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design and derive structural and vibration requirements for existing and future systems and contribute to early-phase product development by driving high-level design decisions.
- Design and analyze mechanical structures for mounting RF phased arrays and other electronic packages.
- Perform structural finite element analysis (FEA) on complex mechanical structures and electronic assemblies for a range of solution and load types, including static, modal, and structural dynamics (vibration and shock). Own and critically review entire analysis process.
- Build finite element models and perform hand calculations to verify structural integrity across Epirus’s product lines.
- Coach and mentor teammates and serve as mechanical design / analyst lead on product design teams
- Experience deriving structural requirements & load cases for large-scale mechanical systems and flowing down requirements into subsystems.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team to develop requirements, design, and build electromechanical systems that survive harsh environments encountered during operation and transport
- BS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural or similar engineering field and 8+ years of experience in structural design & stress analysis of metallic structures (or 6 years of experience with a Master’s degree).
- Expert level comfort with Finite Element Analysis and structural hand calculations.
- Experience with structural analysis and pre/post processing software packages such as Nastran, FEMAP, Ansys, NX-CAE, Patran or equivalent.
- Experience analyzing systems under static loading, shock, and vibrational environments including random vibration.
- Experience with CAD and practical application of GD&T.
- Experience with environmental test and qualification of mechanical systems.
- Experience designing / analyzing actuated mechanical systems including azimuth and elevation pointing mechanisms.
- Experience performing stress analysis of electronic systems such as circuit card assemblies.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Collaborative; capable of working across all levels of the organization.
- Organized; comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
