At Tilt, we believe people are incredible - and we’re building a new credit system to prove it. We’re looking for a Principal/Lead Product Designer to push our design practice to new heights, crafting experiences that help millions take control of their financial futures.

You won’t just ship beautiful screens - you’ll define how Tilt design shows up across our products, setting the bar for user-centered, intuitive, and empowering experiences. You’ll partner with product and engineering leaders, mentor designers, and bring vision to life through hands-on craft.

How you'll make an impact
  • Lead design for core product areas, owning the experience from vision through iteration.

  • Drive prototyping as a Practice across Product Design.

  • Turn customer insights into elegant, intuitive solutions that balance user needs with business goals.

  • Set the standard for design excellence at Tilt - in process, craft, and storytelling.

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Ops to solve complex problems at scale.

  • Mentor and inspire designers, shaping Tilt’s design culture as we grow.

  • Rapidly prototype, test, and refine ideas - balancing speed with thoughtful execution.

  • Ensure Tilt’s design system and patterns scale with our evolving product ecosystem.

Why you're a great fit
  • 10+ years in product design, including experience leading end-to-end consumer mobile products.

  • Proven track record of elevating design quality and shaping product strategy.

  • Portfolio that shows not just great visuals, but thoughtful problem-solving and craft.

  • Deep experience with user research, prototyping, and iteration.

  • Expert in Figma and prototyping tools; with the ability to work fast and deliver high polish.

  • Strong communicator who can influence stakeholders and rally teams.

  • Experience collaborating with engineers to leverage technology and produce high quality innovative interfaces.

Our Interview Process
  1. Initial recruiter call: A conversation to learn about your experience and what you're looking for in your next role.

  2. Hiring manager interview: A deeper discussion about your background and approach to solving challenges.

  3. Portfolio + Skills panel: Meet with Tilt team members to discuss your expertise and problem-solving approach through real-world scenarios.

  4. Leadership conversation: A conversation with a leader to discuss our mission and how you could contribute to it (and how we can help you achieve your career goals along the way).

Don’t meet every qualification? We care about potential over your past. If you're bringing ambition and drive to what we're building, we want to hear from you.

What you'll get at Tilt
  • Virtual-first teamwork: The Tilt team is collaborating across 14 countries, 12 time zones, and counting. You’ll get started with a WFH office reimbursement.

  • Competitive pay: We're big on potential, and it's reflected in our competitive compensation packages and generous equity.

  • Complete support: Find flexible health plans at every premium level, and substantial subsidies that stand up to global standards.

  • Visibility is yours: You can count on direct exposure to our leadership team — we’re a team where good ideas travel quickly.

  • Paid global onsites: Magic happens IRL: we gather twice yearly to reconnect over shared meals or kayaking adventures. (We’ve visited Vail, San Diego, and Mexico City, to name a few.)

  • Impact is recognized: Growth opportunities follow your contributions, not rigid promotion timelines.

The Tilt Way

We're looking for people who chase excellence and impact. Those who stand behind their work, celebrating the wins and learning from the missteps equally. We foster an environment where every voice is valued and mutual respect is non-negotiable — brilliant jerks need not apply. We're in this together, working to expand access to fair credit and prove that people are incredible. When you join us, it's not just another day at the [virtual] office, you're helping millions of hardworking people reach better financial futures.

You’re pushing ahead in your career? We can get behind that. Join us in building the credit system that people deserve.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
