Leads technical direction and end-to-end delivery of shared platform services, developer tooling, APIs, design systems, and infrastructure. Partners across product and engineering teams, owns platform reliability and technical health, drives architecture decisions, mentors senior engineers, and improves testing, release, and delivery practices. The role requires hands-on full-stack development, technical leadership beyond one team, on-call participation, and ownership of a platform domain.

MaintainX is a leading mobile-first work execution platform for industrial and frontline teams. More than 13,000 customers, including Duracell, McDonald's, Shell, DHL and Volvo, use MaintainX to cut unplanned downtime and run better operations, across 13.9 million managed assets and 79.5 million completed work orders.

In August 2026 MaintainX became part of Autodesk, joining Autodesk Operations Solutions, the organization unifying Autodesk's operations platform alongside Tandem, FlexSim and Fusion Operations. Autodesk's strategy is to converge design, make and operate into one continuous lifecycle: design an asset, build it, run it, then feed what you learn running it back into the next design. Autodesk had design and make. Operate is the phase that tells you what actually happened, and it is ours.

About the Team

Platform & Infrastructure keeps everything else fast, reliable and easy to build on. We own the shared services every product team builds on top of (identity, search, communication and our Pantry design system), the tooling that makes our engineers productive, and the release and runtime foundations that let us ship with confidence. Build it once, and every team benefits.

Teams You Might Join
  • Product Foundation: Identity, communication, search and Pantry, including the Integrations Marketplace, Global Search and the Pantry Design System.

  • Developer Productivity: Internal tooling and IDE plugins that make every engineer faster.

  • Release + Runtime and Testing: CI/CD, SRE, FedRAMP compliance and QA. This team leans more toward infrastructure and reliability.

What You'll Work On
  • Set the technical direction for the shared services and components that other teams depend on.

  • Design APIs, tools and design system components that other engineers want to use, and drive adoption across teams.

  • Improve the speed, safety and reliability of how we build, test and ship software.

  • Treat internal engineers as your customers: gather feedback, measure adoption and iterate.

The Role
  • Lead the design and delivery of large, ambiguous projects end to end, from planning through production.

  • Partner directly with Product Managers, Designers, Engineering leadership, and the engineers who build on your work to shape your team’s roadmap and influence the roadmaps of adjacent teams.

  • Own the long-term technical health of a platform domain: reliability, performance, and the parts of the codebase nobody notices until they break.

  • Drive architecture decisions and write the technical proposals others build against.

  • Mentor senior and staff engineers, and set the standard for code review on your team.

  • Raise the bar on tooling, testing, and delivery practices across teams, not just your own.

Our core stack is TypeScript, React, Node.js, and MySQL. Some teams use C# or Python. You don't need to already know every piece of it to apply. You'll land on a team of 5 to 10 people and take on-call rotation as part of the role. Within your first 6 months, you’ll own the technical direction of a platform domain or system outright.

Where We Work

We don't have a minimum in-office mandate, but we prefer our teams to be located around our office hubs. In Canada this includes: Montreal and Toronto.

We're looking for
  • 10+ years of professional experience building full-stack web or mobile products, including a track record of leading technical work at a scope beyond a single team.

  • Deep hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and Node.js.

  • Experience designing shared systems that held up at scale, and the judgment to know when not to build something.

  • Experience with mobile-first, responsive, iterative development.

  • A track record of writing maintainable, testable code you’re comfortable handing off to someone else.

  • Strong written and verbal communication: you can explain a technical tradeoff to a designer, a support lead, or an executive as easily as to another developer.

  • Comfort making progress on a problem before the spec is fully settled, adjusting as you learn more.

  • Day-to-day use of AI tools in your development workflow, not just occasional experimentation.

  • Nice to have: GraphQL, React Native, or SQL database experience. For this area, we also value: Experience with search technology, authentication and identity, design systems or component libraries, developer tooling or IDE extensions, CI/CD, observability, or compliance programs such as FedRAMP or SOC 2.

Our mission is to keep the physical world running. Factories, fleets, hospitals and campuses stay up because the people who maintain them have tools worth using. That is what we build.

Compensation and benefits. Base pay is one part of the package. Depending on the role, compensation may also include commission, an annual bonus and equity. Benefits differ by country. For roles in the United States, Autodesk’s benefits are described at benefits.autodesk.com. For roles in Canada and other countries, the plan differs on health coverage, retirement and leave, and your recruiter will walk you through it.

Belonging. We take pride in a culture where everyone can thrive. More at autodesk.com/company/global-belonging. More on where this is going: Autodesk CEO Andrew Anagnost on building the future of connected operations, and AOS SVP Stephen Hooper on welcoming MaintainX to Autodesk.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
