Role Overview
The Principal Front-end Engineer is an individual contributor that is responsible for world-class front-end technology for the Peerspace platform: architecting it, driving consensus and adoption of it across our team, and leading the implementation of it as a model engineer. In this technical leadership role, you will work with engineers across our delivery teams to create a consistent, elegant, performant, and scalable developer experience that powers the Peerspace web experience for millions of users around the world. You will also work in partnership with Product, Design, and other stakeholders across the company to ensure that front-end excellence is aligned with the broader technology strategy as well as Peerspace’s product and business objectives.

● Ownership: You have demonstrated success as the overall owner of front-end web technology for a startup or growth-stage company, preferably in the marketplace, travel/hospitality, or e-commerce space
● Leadership: You have effectively led and mentored organizations of 10+ front-end developers, either as a staff-plus individual contributor, or as a manager/director overseeing primarily front-end development
● Technical excellence: The web applications you architect and build are modern, performant, maintainable, and have scaled to millions of users globally
● Communication: You are regarded as an excellent communicator and collaborator across Engineering, Product and Design teams, and with business stakeholders and leadership
● Always improving: You’re a proponent of continuous improvement through fast iteration, experimentation, metrics and observability, and tactful adoption of new technologies and standards
You are a strong match for this role if you have the following qualifications and expertise:
● 10+ years in software development with 5+ years of experience in a front-end role
● Expertise in React and Next.js
● Expertise in CSS and related frameworks
● Expertise in robust front-end state management, and integration with platform services and third-party APIs
● Proficiency in building micro-frontends and scaling them as a development practice
● Proficiency in building single-page applications (SPA) that use server-side rendering (SSR) and/or static site generation (SSG)
● Proficiency in implementing design systems and component libraries
● Proficiency with front-end build systems and continuous integration pipelines for web applications
● Proficiency in building responsive applications that serve desktop and mobile
● Experience with optimizing front-end technology for SEO and collaborating with digital marketing teams
● Experience with scalable caching using CDNs
● Experience with experimentation frameworks and A/B testing
● Experience with internationalization, localization, and accessibility
● Experience with unit testing and test automation frameworks for front-end experiences
● Experience with performance testing, real-user monitoring, and application performance monitoring for web applications
● Adjacent knowledge and experience with backend, infrastructure, and DevOps engineering, mobile development, UX/UI design, or database technologies is a plus

The annual salary range for this role is $200,000 to $220,000. The actual salary will vary depending on experience, skills, and abilities as well as internal equity and market data.
