Job Duties and Responsibilities

Our EchoStar Technology Finance team is seeking a high-caliber Principal Financial Analyst to serve as the lead financial architect for our most critical technology assets. This role is responsible for the end-to-end financial stewardship of the Wireless Cloud and Network Engineering departments , two areas that drive highly skilled and complex architecture engineering throughout our Hybrid Mobile Network. You will own the financial lifecycle for a massive-scale hybrid environment, encompassing Cloud (AWS), Global Transport Fiber, Data Centers, and Regulated Infrastructure services. Your mission is to bridge technical execution with financial performance, ensuring our technology investments are optimized for enterprise-wide scale and value.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the annual budgeting and multi-year rolling forecasts for the Network Engineering and Cloud Departments; manage the complex interplay between massive Capital Expenditures (CapEx) for physical assets and shifting Operating Expenditures (OpEx) for Cloud
  • Serve as the primary finance partner for the Network Engineering group; manage the financial modeling, commitment tracking, and accounting for Transport Fiber, Direct Connections, and Data Center facilities, including Indefeasible Rights of Use (IRU) and long-term lease structures
  • Direct the financial strategy for global cloud consumption; leverage the FinOps Lifecycle (Inform, Optimize, Operate) to drive accountability, detect anomalies, and implement cost-saving strategies like Savings Plans and Reserved Instances
  • Partner with Accounting to lead month-end activities (accruals, reversals, and variance analysis); ensure all financial activity complies with GAAP and industry-specific requirements
  • Develop sophisticated models to assign financial value to essential business functions; link infrastructure spend to business drivers (e.g., cost-per-gigabit, cost-per-stream) to assess performance over time
  • Identify and quantify multi-year agreements and future pending commitments; Provide the "what-if" modeling necessary for leadership to commit to long-term infrastructure shifts
  • Synthesize ambiguous technical data into clear, compelling executive presentations for the EVP, COO and CFO; offer data-driven recommendations that align technology spend with overarching company revenue goals (Video Services and Wireless)

Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics; MBA or MS-Finance is a plus
  • 7+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience in high-growth Tech or Telecom environments; specific experience with heavy infrastructure (Fiber/Data Centers) is essential
  • Certifications: FinOps Certified Practitioner (highly preferred)

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Deep understanding of both AWS cloud services and physical networking (Dark Fiber, Transport, Submarine cables, and Colocation)
  • Expert-level MS Excel and professional proficiency in Enterprise Performance Management tools (OneStream, SmartView, Essbase)
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting, capitalization of labor/assets, and the nuances of regulated utility-style services
  • Ability to summarize complex concepts for senior executives while maintaining the technical "street cred" to partner with Lead Engineers and Architects

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $83,950.00/Year - $119,900.00/Year
