Job Description
At Micron-Boise, ID, we are undergoing a historic $15 billion investment in semiconductor manufacturing; construction began in early 2023, with DRAM production slated for the second half of the decade! Environmental Compliance plays a critical role in protecting Micron's people, communities, and operations worldwide. We work at the intersection of manufacturing, engineering, and sustainability to manage risk, strengthen compliance, and continuously improve how we operate across a complex global footprint.
You will engage with site environmental health and safety teams and other internal partners. You will handle regulatory risk, support operational excellence, and promote consistent execution across Micron's manufacturing locations globally. How would you build and scale a global waste management program that reduces regulatory risk while supporting operational excellence across diverse manufacturing sites?
This Principal Engineer role is a key leadership position within the Environmental Compliance team. You will shape and lead Micron's global waste management program, setting the standards and expectations that enable safe, compliant, and efficient operations across diverse manufacturing sites. The role offers broad visibility, strong partnerships, and the opportunity to make a meaningful global impact.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead Micron's global waste management program and drive consistent execution across regions
  • Develop and maintain global waste standards aligned with regulatory and corporate requirements
  • Identify, assess, and manage waste-related compliance risks in partnership with Legal and site EHS teams
  • Define program metrics, dashboards, and targets to drive performance and continuous improvement
  • Support audits, due diligence, corrective actions, and cross-functional engagement

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in environmental compliance, waste management, or EHS roles
  • Experience leading programs or complex initiatives across organizations
  • Working knowledge of hazardous and non-hazardous waste regulations
  • Experience using data and metrics to inform decisions

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in semiconductor or other highly regulated manufacturing environments
  • Experience implementing global or multi-site environmental programs
  • Experience supporting waste-related due diligence or site expansions
  • Professional environmental or EHS certifications
