Role Description: 

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Engineer to lead our DevOps initiatives, drive automation, and optimize a global cloud infrastructure. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in designing and maintaining scalable, secure, and cost-efficient CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes clusters, and modernized cloud-based systems. This role reports to the Director, Platform Engineering. 

What you’ll do: 

  • Design robust, scalable, highly available global cloud architectures that meet business requirements and align with industry best practices. 
  • Have extensive hands-on experience with Azure, Kubernetes (AKS), Helm, and Docker containerization. 
  • Oversee the design, implementation and optimization of CI/CD pipelines to facilitate automated testing, deployment and monitoring of applications and infrastructure.  (GitHub Actions) 
  • Have a solid understanding of networking, security, and compliance in cloud environments. 
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning with tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar IaC frameworks. 
  • Establish best practices for observability, logging, alerting and monitoring using tools like Prometheus and Grafana. 
  • Be experienced with scripting and automation. (Python, Bash, Go, or similar). 
  • Champion collaboration with teams across the company to identify DevOps needs and deliver solutions to advanced technology goals that improve developer experience and release velocity. 
  • Have a background in compliance-heavy industries and integrating audit requirements with security standards and industry best practices. (SOC2, ISO 27001, etc.). 
  • Provide escalation assistance as required to resolve any technology stack related issues that may arise. 
  • Coach and mentor team members on best practices and standards in DevOps. 
  • Have familiarity with new industry trends in DevOps tools and concepts. 
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.  

What you’ll bring to the table: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. 
  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps or related fields, with at least 5 years in an architecture role. 
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure Stack, including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and other Azure cloud services. 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and transitioning from monolithic to scalable, distributed architectures across multiple regions. 
  • Excellent understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub), infrastructure as code (IaC), and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent. 
  • Solid experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. 
  • Sound knowledge of networking, security, and compliance in a global cloud environment. 
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

ShipBob believes in transparency while providing a competitive total compensation package with a pay for performance approach. The full base pay range for this position in our compensation architecture is $201,002 - $335,004. In addition to base salary, this role includes the opportunity to be eligible for participation in the Company's discretionary bonus plan based on Company's plans and in accordance with Company’s policies.
