We’re seeking a Principal Data Scientist to play a key role in driving our Capital Deployment and Advertising Sales strategies - powering some of the largest creators and brands on YouTube. This is an exciting opportunity to apply cutting-edge modeling techniques to impactful business challenges in the dynamic world of the creator economy.
What You'll Do
- Lead the development and deployment of advanced AI/ML solutions and pipelines.
- Architect, build and oversee predictive models using advanced machine learning techniques such as GBM, NLP, CNN, LSTM techniques to help grow Capital Deployment and Ad Sales business units.
- Leverage large-scale digital data sources (Web, App, API) and sophisticated analytics platforms within an industry-leading Big Data ecosystem.
- Design and deliver everything from basic reports to advanced machine learning models and algos to help YouTube creators to grow from “creators” to “enterprises” with world class underwriting models and brand efficient media solutions to optimize media yield.
- Maintain, optimize and innovate analytic models driving all insights and reporting.
- Enable visibility, generate insights and create early performance indicators for licensed content.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis to further enhance our understanding of content performance.
- Partner with the Product team to revolutionize the product and services we offer with a data-driven approach.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to test, implement and deploy modeling solutions to production systems.
Who You Are
- Master’s degree or PhD in Data Science or a related quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research) is required.
- 8+ years experience with a Master's or 6+ years professional experience with a PhD.
- Extensive experience in developing and deploying advanced machine learning models (XGBoost, CNN, LSTM, SVM, or similar).
- Experience in large data processing and handling is a plus - familiarity with big data platforms (Hadoop, Pig, Hive, Spark, AWS, Databrics), querying languages (SQL, scripting) and analytical languages (Python or R).
- Proven ability to lead and mentor data science teams.
- Strong expertise in MLOps strategies.
- Experience with large-scale data processing and analysis.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans.
- Passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and LLMs.
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in Los Angeles. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is: $190k-$210k salary per year. The range listed is just one component of Spotter’s total compensation package for employees.
