About the Position

The Principal, Senior Consultant is TEECOM’s highest-level individual contributor—responsible for delivering large, complex, multi-discipline projects while serving as a trusted subject matter expert within your discipline. As the Project Lead, you’ll be accountable for delivering projects profitably, maintaining scope alignment, and evaluating project health every two weeks.

You’ll adjust the work plan as needed, request additional services when appropriate, escalate risks early, and maintain alignment with scope, schedule, and budget. You’ll lead technical direction, maintain design quality, and ensure coordinated, high-performance project delivery. You’ll document client-specific processes and project requirements so your team has the clarity needed to deliver consistent, predictable results. You’ll also collaborate with Group Leads, Team Leads, and Discipline Leads to uphold standards and support complex technical decisions.

Externally, you’ll strengthen TEECOM’s visibility and credibility by building trusted client relationships and serving as a senior technical advisor. You’ll enhance the firm’s presence through thought leadership—supporting pursuits, contributing narratives, participating in interviews, and developing content such as white papers, blogs, and conference presentations. Internally, you’ll mentor Designers and engineers by providing guidance, design oversight, and actionable feedback that improves project outcomes and supports professional growth. You’ll play a key role in developing the next generation of engineers and supporting technical excellence across the firm.

Technical Leadership, Mentorship, and Improving the TEECOM System

  • You shape complex technical decisions and set a high bar for design quality, coordination, and documentation across multiple projects or client accounts.

  • You deepen TEECOM’s client relationships by acting as a trusted technical advisor—communicating proactively and aligning expectations at a strategic level.
  • Mentor and Develop Designers and Engineers
  • You strengthen TEECOM’s technical bench by providing advanced coaching that builds the skills, confidence, and judgment of engineers and production staff across groups.
  • You expand mentees’ exposure by bringing them into client conversations, design reviews, and high-stakes decision-making.
  • You set expectations clearly, delegate meaningful work, and offer timely, actionable feedback—including through thoughtful participation in quarterly performance assessments.
  • Improve the TEECOM System
  • You elevate firmwide standards by leading updates to discipline documentation, templates, and workflows through high-impact Pull Requests.
  • You identify systemic gaps in processes or tools and propose scalable solutions that reduce rework and improve consistency across teams.
  • You document discipline-wide guidance, client-specific processes, and best practices that strengthen onboarding, delegation, and alignment.
  • You contribute to TEECOM’s learning ecosystem by shaping advanced training content and supporting knowledge-sharing across the firm.

  • Partner with Project Leads, Group Leads, and Team Leads to strengthen delivery consistency, technical standards, and coordination strategy across complex projects.
  • Maintain visibility into project financial performance, scope alignment, staffing strategy, and delivery health—making proactive adjustments that protect profitability and predictability.
  • Contribute to business planning by identifying client needs, portfolio risks, emerging trends, and strategic opportunities that inform TEECOM’s direction.
  • Strengthen client relationships through business reviews, technical discussions, and leadership in pursuits that reinforce TEECOM’s credibility.
  • Lead complex design reviews and QA/QC efforts that reinforce discipline excellence, documentation clarity, and coordination integrity.
  • Advance TEECOM’s system through high-impact Pull Requests and scalable documentation improvements that strengthen standards and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with Group Leads and Team Leads on workload forecasting, resource strategy, and delivery alignment.
  • Represent TEECOM through thought leadership—conferences, industry events, internal workshops, and advanced knowledge-sharing.
  • When serving as a Mentor, provide structured performance input and development guidance that builds technical mastery and leadership readiness.
  • Monthly and Biweekly
  • Maintain visibility into project financial performance, scope alignment, staffing, and delivery health—guiding adjustments that protect execution quality and profitability.
  • Lead complex technical design, coordination, and documentation across multi-discipline projects.
  • Conduct advanced design reviews and QA/QC efforts that reinforce technical excellence and reduce risk.
  • Advance discipline standards through high-impact Pull Requests and documentation updates that improve clarity and efficiency.
  • Maintain disciplined project controls—including billing accuracy, scope validation, AR oversight, and coordination with Project Leads and Group Leads.
  • Maintain accurate time and expense entries and, when serving as a Mentor, reinforce strong documentation and reporting habits.
  • Participate in Engineering meetings, manufacturer engagement, and cross-team discussions to maintain technical alignment and stay current on industry advancements.
  • Weekly and Daily
  • Drive technical alignment across projects through client, coordination, and internal meetings—clarifying priorities and surfacing risks early.
  • Lead technical guidance through design reviews, markups, and real-time feedback that strengthen coordination and delivery quality.
  • Lead and support pursuits by shaping technical strategy, refining scope assumptions, contributing to fee development, and participating in interviews.
  • Maintain disciplined documentation across GitHub, Asana, Callback One, and the Design Decision Log (DDL) to ensure clarity and traceability.
  • Communicate proactively with clients, design partners, and contractors to maintain alignment and momentum.
  • Maintain visibility into project health—including scope, schedule, financial performance, and coordination readiness—and recommend adjustments when risks emerge.
  • Oversee discipline design, coordination, and production with strong technical judgment while reinforcing TEECOM workflows and standards.
  • Maintain accurate time, expense, and project updates that support forecasting, billing, and delivery visibility.
  • As Needed
  • Support Additional Service Agreements (ASAs), scope adjustments, and proposal development to maintain alignment between delivery realities and contractual expectations.
  • Strengthen client relationships through strategic discussions, industry events, and thought-leadership activities.
  • Contribute to recruiting, mentoring, and team development through interviews, coaching, and participation in initiatives that strengthen TEECOM’s technical capability.
  • Conduct site visits, field verifications, and programming sessions as required, documenting findings clearly to support coordinated delivery.
  • Lead or contribute to firmwide initiatives, knowledge-sharing, or special projects that advance TEECOM’s systems, standards, and culture.

Supervisory / Mentorship / Training Responsibilities

  • Supervisory: When serving as a Mentor, you provide structured coaching and performance input for assigned mentees. You identify risks, cross-project dependencies, and resourcing trends and collaborate with Group Leads and Team Leads to inform workload planning and delivery strategy.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a senior mentor and technical role model for engineers and production team members. You coach through complex technical and coordination challenges, reinforce accountability to standards, and develop others’ judgment and decision-making. You provide clear, actionable feedback, track progress over time, and help shape the next generation of technical leaders.
  • Training: Lead discipline-level training and knowledge sharing by defining learning priorities, developing and delivering advanced training content, and ensuring standards are clearly documented and understood. You lead design reviews, author and refine documentation, and elevate technical and documentation quality across the discipline through structured, repeatable training and coaching.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred) or equivalent experience; advanced degree (MS or MBA) a plus.
  • Experience: 12+ years of experience in AEC or related professional services with demonstrated discipline-specific leadership. (Telecom/ICT, Structured Cabling, Low Voltage)
  • Preferred: Experience leading complex, multi-discipline projects and providing technical guidance, QA/QC oversight, and mentoring to Designers and engineers.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality, coordinated designs and make sound decisions in complex or ambiguous environments.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, client expectations, documentation standards, coordination requirements, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to documentation, standards, QA/QC workflows, and system improvements through GitHub Pull Requests.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk (AutoCAD, Revit), Bluebeam Studio, Microsoft 365 Suite, Google Workspace, and GitHub.
  • Industry certifications preferred or required by discipline:
  • RCDD (Telecom/ICT) — required
  • EIT — preferred
  • PE — preferred
  • CDT — preferred
  • PMP — plus

Physical Demands

Work Environment

  • Approximately 75% of work is performed in a remote or office environment using standard office equipment.
  • Approximately 25% occurs at client sites, including construction environments and existing facilities.
  • Construction sites may include exposure to elevated noise levels, dust, uneven or unfinished walking surfaces, variable lighting conditions, and active construction operations.
  • Utility rooms and similar spaces may have restricted access or may not fully comply with ADA accessibility standards. When access limitations exist, TEECOM will support coordinating reasonable accommodations with site-controlling contractor or alternative means to perform essential job functions.
  • All accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions must be reported immediately to the site superintendent and internally to People Operations.
