Job Description SummaryPrincipal Composite Engineer BWRX-300 plays a critical role in the seamless coordination, orchestration, and brokering of interactions among lead systems engineers from diverse technical disciplines. This position serves as the central point of integration, ensuring that cross-functional teams are aligned and that technical interfaces are managed effectively throughout the engineering lifecycle. The successful candidate will leverage exceptional leadership, communication, and technical acumen to facilitate collaborative problem-solving, resolve complex integration challenges, and drive the efficient execution of the Engineering Change Authorization (ECA) process. By fostering a culture of transparency and accountability, the Composite Engineer ensures the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance are maintained, enabling the successful delivery of robust engineering solutions for GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) BWRX-300 program.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate systems engineering activities across multiple disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, civil, I&C, etc. engineering.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for lead systems engineers, facilitating information exchange and alignment of project objectives.
  • Oversee and manage the Engineering Change Authorization process, ensuring all changes are systematically evaluated, documented, and implemented in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, product owners, and other stakeholders to define system architecture, requirements, and technical solutions.
  • Review and approve technical documentation, change requests, and verification/validation plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement in systems engineering methodologies and ECA processes.
  • Mentor and support lead systems engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and accountability.
  • Ensure all system-level design and change activities adhere to safety, reliability, and quality standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • At least 8 additional years of experience in an engineering capacity.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • The preferred work location for this role   the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy Headquarters in Wilmington, NC, but highly qualified (US based) remote candidates will be considered. If remote up to 30% travel to Wilmington.
  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional engineering teams and coordinating complex projects.
  • Proven expertise in engineering change management processes and tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience with industry standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., ISO, ASME, IEC, etc.).
  • Systems Engineering certification (e.g., INCOSE CSEP) is highly desirable.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business.
  • Experience working in the nuclear energy industry.
  • Proficiency with systems engineering tools and change management software.

The base pay range for this position is $128,000 to $202,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This position is expected to close on Friday October 10th

The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
