Devoted Health
Principal Business Intelligence Analyst - Provider Performance and Operations
Job Description
A bit about this role:
In this role, you’ll serve as a strategic, embedded partner to our Provider Operations and Performance leadership. You will bridge two critical worlds responsible for the full lifecycle of the provider's relationship with Devoted: from onboarding and directory accuracy through measuring financial performance and building tools to support critical conversations between network managers and provider groups. This means collaborating with a diverse group of senior stakeholders - from Market Presidents to Actuarial and Finance and Operations teams - to track performance-driven metrics and enable enterprise-critical financial and provider-related workflows. You’ll be responsible for translating complex, ambiguous data into actionable strategies that have a widespread impact across the organization. It’s a unique opportunity to master everything from real-time operational efficiency to the long-term financial health of our provider network.
Reporting into the Data Organization, you will partner with many teams across the company (business teams, data science, product management, data engineering, and software engineering) to determine how best to measure and present our company’s performance. You will be responsible for building tools that will: ensure data integrity and reporting consistency; maintain the performance of our BI platform (Looker); and scale to support current and future LLM supported analyses and use cases.
We need a strong analyst who is comfortable digging deep into complex data, enjoys telling a story through data visualization, and knows the importance of data governance when building lasting data products. Someone who naturally forms data-backed hypotheses, rigorously tests them against operational metrics, and communicates findings with clear implications for business impact.
We are eager to find folks who are passionate about building great technology to solve problems for users—our members, our colleagues, and ourselves.
Responsibilities will include:
Use your healthcare knowledge to proactively identify unexpected changes in data and investigate root causes by analyzing trends and underlying factors. Curiosity drives you. You enjoy testing theories and are relentlessly looking for the “why” behind observations.
Turn insights into actions. You will not only analyze data but also transform your findings into clear recommendations for strategic adjustments, workflow improvements, and smarter investments for various audiences.
Design, build, and own the development and communication of KPIs for the Provider Operations and Provider Performance teams, enabling those teams to make real time performance adjustments and strategy pivots as well as long term technical and process investments to achieve our goals.
Simplify metric definitions and tools while advocating for data governance and creating a trustworthy reporting layer in Looker. Implement effective analytical strategies through dashboards and additional tools for proactive monitoring.
Share findings and their limitations with leaders and teams that have mixed technical backgrounds.
Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams to define requirements for supporting data warehousing systems in Snowflake or our internal operating platform.
Designing data structures and tools that will scale as our company continues its adoption of LLM based analysis, including conversational analytics.
Attributes to success:
Experience coupled with a willingness to learn new things
Comfort with uncertainty and a desire to be close to business problems
Desire to contribute individually and in team settings
Experience partnering with leaders to define and execute technical projects, seeing work through from ideation to implementation and impact
Strong understanding of many technologies in use today and excited to add new LLM tools to that list
Desired skills and experience:
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Collaborative and empathetic communication with business leaders throughout the organization.
Expert at explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Self-starter who can work across functions, plan and prioritize independently, and actively participate in discussions.
5+ years of experience writing advanced SQL, developing metrics, building operating dashboards and performing ad hoc analyses.
5+ years of experience developing in a BI tool (preferably Looker).
3+ years of experience working with healthcare data.
Bonus:
At least 3 years in management consulting, product management, or another strategic role translating technical problems for executive-level audiences.
Experience with a Medicare Advantage plan working with provider data
Familiarity using LLM coding features within an IDE (Github Copilot, OpenAI Codex, Claude Code)
Salary Range: $145,000 - $160,000 / year
