At Medtronic, we value what makes you unique. Be part of a company that thinks differently to solve problems, make progress, and deliver meaningful innovations.

Our Global Quality Strategy is rooted in the Medtronic Mission and our Quality Policy. Being a 'trusted partner' means always putting the patient first, upholding product quality, and maintaining the highest ethical standards in our business relationships and programs. Your dedication to quality is important to our customers and, most importantly, to their patients.

We are seeking an Automation Quality Assurance Engineer who will be a team leader in the Quality Optimization team for system related quality processes responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of software and hardware processes related to process automation. The ideal candidate will focus on the effectiveness and reliability of the processes supporting these systems, ensuring they meet performance standards and function seamlessly within the broader manufacturing and quality control environment. This role will emphasize process validation, testing automation, and continuous process improvement including Vision Engineering and AI/ML in some applications.

Onsite

At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We’re working a minimum of 5 days a week onsite as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Validation and Testing: Develop/Execute test plans that focus on the robustness and reliability of the end-to-end processes underpinning process automation.

  • Automated Testing of Processes: Design and maintain test automation frameworks that evaluate the workflow processes rather than just the final product, ensuring that the automated systems perform effectively within a variety of operational contexts.

  • Process Quality Assurance: Monitor, analyze, and continuously improve the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to ensure processes support high-quality, scalable solutions for automation applications.

  • Defect Analysis: Identify process-related issues, document them, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve bottlenecks in software processes, using tools such as JIRA for defect tracking.

  • Process Optimization: Collaborate with technology development and site operations teams to optimize processes that support automation and automated visual inspection systems, with a focus on minimizing error rates, reducing process inefficiencies, and improving overall system reliability.

  • Continuous Integration (CI): Integrate process quality checks and testing into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure all aspects of the software and deployment processes are validated before release.

  • Performance Monitoring: Conduct performance tests on processes and workflows, focusing on scalability and throughput within the manufacturing environment to ensure systems handle high-volume, real-time inspection tasks.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with product owners, process engineers, and site quality operational teams to ensure software processes are aligned with overall business objectives and operational requirements.

  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain thorough process documentation and ensure adherence to relevant industry standards and compliance regulations (e.g. ISO 13485 and global regulatory requirements).

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
