Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS), Beavercreek Ohio, is seeking Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Software Engineers with experience in using the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) simulation tool. Successful candidates will demonstrate a broad skill set balanced between interpersonal and technical capabilities achieving sustainable quality products. They will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The selected candidates will participate in the entire software development lifecycle with a concentration in software engineering. They will identify, collect, develop, and implement AFSIM models into existing scenarios developed by the National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC). implement solutions in a web-based environment and integrate them into a microservice cloud-based architecture. The candidates will work closely with the government customer and other software developers accomplishing the following:

  • Develop a realistic simulation environment in AFSIM emulating real world systems and platforms
  • Support team in completing necessary software on schedule
  • Complete work independently and as a part of an Agile team
  • Solve complex problems through innovative and creative solutions
  • Collaborate with NASIC personnel and other M&S developers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of AFSIM models and scenarios
  • Regularly demonstrate progress to customers

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications for a Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant STEM degree from an accredited institution with 2 years’ experience OR a master’s degree with 0 years’ experience OR a high school diploma/equivalent with 6 years’ experience
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with government organizations and other development teams
  • Experience with AFSIM
  • Experience in developing M&S products
  • Working knowledge of the Agile development processes
  • An active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Software Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant STEM degree from an accredited institution with 5 years’ experience OR a master’s degree with 3 years’ experience OR a high school diploma/equivalent with 9 years’ experience
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with government organizations and other development teams
  • Experience with AFSIM
  • Experience in developing M&S products in DoD simulation environments
  • Working knowledge of the Agile development processes
  • An active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with small technical teams and government customer
  • Experience developing blue air systems in AFSIM or other DoD simulation environment
  • Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
  • Experience developing C++ based plugins in AFSIM
  • Experience utilizing DoD modeling and simulation environments, NGTS, AFSIM, ITASE, etc.
  • Experience working with Jira and Jenkins
  • Experience working in Agile software development environment

Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00Salary Range 2: $97,500.00 - $146,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
