Yahoo serves as a trusted guide for hundreds of millions of people globally, helping them achieve their goals online through our portfolio of iconic products. For advertisers, Yahoo Advertising offers omnichannel solutions and powerful data to engage with our brands and deliver results.

We are looking for a product management professional to help drive monetization priorities across Yahoo. The Product Manager in this role is responsible for helping execute the strategy for signal creation, collection, distribution, and activation across Yahoo-owned and operated properties and partners.

You will work closely with our engineering, operations, privacy, identity, and leadership teams to propose, develop, and launch new and differentiating experiences for our Yahoo users. We’re looking for candidates with a proven ability to work effectively with all levels within the organization, a strong aptitude for idea generation, and the ability to work through data-driven iterations.

Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Monetization Platform engineering team and other platform product teams, this PM will help drive the targeting and attribution capabilities of Yahoo as a publisher across deterministic, audience segmentation, and contextual domains.

The signals PM will land these new targeting and attribution capabilities with direct and indirect advertisers through the openRTB transaction framework (Google Ad Manager + Prebid SDKs + Amazon SDKs).

In alignment with the Membership and Identity platform, as well as legal, privacy and security teams, establish best practices for the use of encrypted personally identifiable information and sensitive information - utilizing cleanroom or other advanced cryptographic and privacy-preserving technologies.

Define the roadmap and priorities for new monetization integrations and data-driven consumer products

Align and energize key stakeholders and team members responsible for the product life cycle

Lead the full product lifecycle—from ideation, design, and requirements definition, through to delivery—collaborating with teams across the organization. Communicate a clear set of consumer needs at all times to drive key trade-offs.

Evangelize objectives and requirements across Yahoo to position your product for success and garner any support required to successfully execute on your product

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of openRTB, header bidding, prebid, Google Ad Manager, SSPs, DSPs, DMPs, cleanrooms, and other modern digital advertising technology and methodologies.

General understanding of deterministic, audience segmentation, contextual signals, and standard taxonomies as well as their use by advertisers to achieve full-funnel outcomes (awareness, intent lift, performance).

Experience managing a consumer product or program from the concept stage to launch

A strong track record of developing and launching products

Exceptional oral and written communication skills with both business and technical teams

5+ years of experience in consumer Web software product management

Technical, Design degree or equivalent experience.

Ability to prioritize competing opportunities, balance market needs with business priorities, drive detailed trade-offs over the product lifecycle, manage conflict, and articulate the rationale behind decisions

Success leading complex projects across a global, cross-functional organization and demonstrated ability as a thought leader for key issues in that environment

Extra Credit:

Direct experience at a major SSP, DSP or exchange.

The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies; exercising sound judgment; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
