Job Summary:

We are seeking a Pricing Operations Analyst to join our Pricing & Quotation team. This role's core accountability is pricing execution and governance: applying approved pricing to customer quotes accurately and consistently, administering price sheets, and maintaining the controls, compliance, and documentation that ensure pricing is handled the same way every time. The role also provides analytical support to the team's Pricing Analyst, giving the successful candidate exposure to both the operational and analytical sides of pricing.

The Pricing Operations Analyst will apply approved markup and pricing rules to customer quotes, administer existing price sheets, and maintain accurate, auditable records of pricing actions taken. The role also takes on more routine analytical, reporting, and reconciliation work, including researching the root cause of pricing discrepancies flagged by our Inside Sales team.

This is a full-time, entry-level position best suited for a candidate with some relevant experience who is eager to build strong business judgment and grow into more advanced pricing work over time. Strong Excel skills and attention to detail are important, but the ability to apply rules accurately and consistently, look at data, ask whether it makes sense, and clearly explain findings to a manager is the most critical skill for long-term success in this role.

This role reports to the Pricing & Quotation Manager and is an individual contributor position at the time of posting.

**This position is remote in the following states: AZ, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MI, NC, NE, SD, TN, TX, WI, WY

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Pricing Execution

  • Interpret and apply approved pricing methodologies, customer-specific pricing provisions, and commercial terms to customer quotations while identifying and escalating exceptions that may require additional review.
  • Monitor quote validity windows and refresh pricing (cost and markup) on quotes ahead of customer orders, upon request, and on quotes flagged by Inside Sales as due for maintenance at order entry.
  • Apply existing price sheet pricing to quotes tied to customer blanket agreements, and administer pricing on existing price sheets, including running system-generated bulk updates, reviewing exception/mismatch reports, and manually correcting flagged pricing lines.
  • Identify and flag new items that should be added to existing customer price sheets.
  • Serve as the point of contact for pricing escalations flagged by Inside Sales, ensuring they are properly logged and routed.

Pricing Governance

  • Maintain accurate, auditable records of markup applied, maintenance/repricing actions taken, and escalations handled.
  • Apply and enforce established pricing controls and compliance requirements, operating within approved policy thresholds and escalation rules; this role executes approved pricing and does not have independent authority to approve a pricing deviation.
  • Assist in documenting and maintaining standard operating procedures for pricing execution and governance.

Analytical Support

  • Analyze pricing discrepancies, identify root causes, evaluate potential impacts, and recommend corrective actions for leadership review.
  • Prepare first-pass documentation and supporting calculations for price exception/escalation requests, for review and final approval by pricing leadership.
  •  Analyze pricing and transactional data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provide backup coverage for pricing analysis responsibilities during peak volume, PTO, or complex bid cycles, including quarterly customer price file calculations.
  • Support the pricing exception/deviation process, including monitoring a shared pricing mailbox.
  • Support financial analysis and provide data inputs into bid-tracking tools.
  • Pull and interpret data from company reporting tools and dashboards to support recurring and ad hoc pricing analysis.
  • Perform variance checks and reconciliations in Excel to catch errors before pricing or reporting is finalized.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in pricing, sales operations, quote coordination, or analytical/administrative support.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, PivotTables, conditional formatting) sufficient to manage data sets, reconcile figures, and calculate variances.
  • Strong business judgment and sound decision-making: able to apply rules accurately and consistently, recognize when something looks off, and determine when to escalate versus resolve independently.
  • Ability to communicate analysis and research findings clearly and concisely to a manager.
  • Ability to learn and navigate core business systems, including ERP/quoting systems, ticketing tools, and reporting dashboards.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a daily queue of tasks accurately and with decreasing supervision over time.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior exposure to a manufacturing, distribution, or industrial business environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., AS400, Infor LN) and/or business intelligence/reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated interest in growing into a more senior pricing or business analyst role over time.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
