We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Power Generation Operations to lead the operation and maintenance of primary and secondary on-site power generation systems supporting U.S. data center campuses. This role is accountable for ensuring continuous protection of compute load through disciplined execution of methods of procedure (MOPs), particularly during load transfers, ramp-rate transitions, and abnormal operating conditions.
The Senior Manager will partner closely with operations, engineering, and training teams to build and sustain high-performing maintenance and repair programs, oversee on-site power plant operating agreements, and lead teams responsible for day-to-day power generation operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with operations training teams to design, implement, and maintain effective repair, preventive maintenance, and emergency response training programs.
  • Manage on-site power plant operating agreements, ensuring service delivery, performance metrics, and contractual obligations align with uptime and reliability requirements.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard specialized power generation operations personnel as required to support site growth and operational maturity.
  • Establish and track key performance indicators related to reliability, availability, maintenance effectiveness, and incident response.
  • Serve as an escalation point for significant power generation events and outages, coordinating cross-functional response and root cause analysis.
  • Drive a strong culture of safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all power generation operations.
  • Stay current on industry best practices, emerging power generation technologies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 8–12+ years of experience in power generation or mission-critical infrastructure operations, with demonstrated people leadership experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of on-site power generation systems (primary and secondary) and their integration into data center environments.
  • Proven experience developing and executing MOPs to manage load transfers, ramp rates, and operational risk.
  • Experience building and sustaining maintenance, repair, and training programs in high-availability environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendor and operating agreements tied to critical infrastructure.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Experience in data centers, utilities, power plants, or other mission-critical facilities is highly desirable.
  • Areas for these are currently, Abilene (sites 1 & 2), New Mexico, Wisconsin, Chicago IL.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
